Thread: making krayt guns = free tissues ???
i am not a weaponsmith....
the last three times i've had my krayt FWG5 pistols made, (all by Master WS) i've given two sets of GOOD tissues, and asked for two guns..... (+49 and +59)
magically each time my first sample was a "critical failure" and my second tissue was made into a gun with no problems...
first time okay, second time - huh? and the third time is **edit** ?! three different WS -- three immediate critical failures...
i would assume that when WS are buying a crafting machine for their house, they are getting the best they can get, so i would expect less critical failures than the public crafting machines i use for meds. when i use the public crafting machines i very rarely get a C.F.
my commen sence tells me that i'm giving away free tissue with these so called "critical failures" as there is no real way to check this for sure for those of us not using the machines....
AND THIS MORNING -- my 4th different Master Weaponsmith and my 4th C.F. with my 1st tissue, 2nd tissue no problem so i give him a 3rd tissue and ANOTHER CRITICAL FAILURE.... this just isn't right...
i think this is a way for the WS to get free tissues out of those that are asking for the krayt enhanced weapons to be made.. unless someone can tell me some way of knowing for sure or not if these so called critical failures are actually happening or the WS are pocketing my tissues....
First off, there's no evidence that highly rated crafting stations actually make a difference in crafting. Some people think they do, others say they don't see a difference. So the quality of the crafting station may not even make a difference in terms of critical fails.
Secondly, since the last patch many WS (myself included) have noticed an increase in critical failures and moderate successes (which should actually be called Moderate Failures because that's what they basically are). Some believe that crafting was secretly nerfed to increase failure rates; then again maybe it's just incredibly bad luck too.
I'm not a Master WS yet, but in my experience it can often take me several attempts to hand-craft a sub-component to get all great successes (which is really the only worthwhile outcome). So, maybe those weaponsmiths didn't getall critical failures; they might have gotten Moderate Successes as well, which greatly reduce the effectiveness of the component.
If you always went to the same MWS and he/she always got critical failures the first attempt or two, then I might be suspicious as well. But I find it hard to believe that four different MWS would be doing the same thing to scam tissues out of people. Heck, most MWS are well enough off thatthey don't need to scam krayt tissue. ![]()

Crit fail rates have risen for me too. Makeing Krayt guns has become a total crapshoot caue you need 3 perfect combines and expirmentations for a perfect gun. And this almost never happens anymore.
Well here is a similar story of what hapened to me 2 days ago that should calm your fears.
I had 3 people in the span of an hour ask me to make them a DH17 snubnose carbine ( I'm master weaponsmith). In all three cases, I crit failed the 1st gun I tried to make for them.
I did not think much of it, because crit fails hapen all the time.
There is a chance that they are scamming you.. but I will agree with the other posters and say that critical failures have been much more frequent since the patch. I have the best crafting station and tool possible and I've noticed a substantial increase in critical failures and moderate experiments.
Weapon repairing is totally gimped as well, but that's another topic altogether.
Its true.....crit failure rates have increased.
If it puts ur mind at ease......
I got myself 5 +181 tissues........I was very excited.
I crit failed the handler assembly three times in a row before I finally suceeded

Not sure if this still works, but if your indoors, you used to be able to target someone and type /open and you would be able to view their inventory...
Might want to try that the next time a weaponsmith tells you that he got a critical failure.

I just tried that, "You do not have permission to access [player's name]"
