Thread: New Weaponsmith
Hi im just about to reach novice weaponsmith on intrepid and was wondering if any of you have advice or tips?
I just reach novice last weekend but do have alittle good advice for you. Hopefully you have already done this since you have posted a few times. Go through the weaponsmith board (including older pages) and check out the interesting posts. You can get a ton of advice quick that way, and you avoid being the 8 billionth person to ask what to grind.
I'm getting ready to push for firearms 1 then sprint up the tech tree. I hate grinding but you gotta do what you gotta do. I want to sell good quality weapons not crap.
(On an amusing side note I checked the bazzar and I can already make as good or better than what is being sold there.)
After I hit Novice Weaponsmith, I coasted from Domestic Arts 1 to Domestic Arts 4 on UXP. Granted, that's GCXP, not WCXP, but XP that you don't have to grind is good XP in my book. Plus, it gives you someone to talk to
I have been grinding the Projectile Rifle Barrel. In non-practice mode it typically yields 85 to 90 exp and you can get away with only using metal if you like. I am nearly 3/4 of the way through 'Master Firearms.' The two handed axe is ok for grinding, but I feel like it is more complicated to come up with the additional, different types of resources and it is super easy to double click the "steel" twice so it goes faster. So even though axe wield more exp, I can build PRB much faster.
I recommend getting a lot of resources for whatever item you decide to grind. You will go through them very quickly.
In addition, I would recommend finding a good crafting macro, otherwise it is going to take you forever.
I basically quit hunting for the time being until I hit master melee and Firearms.

Best item for grinding that is the fastest schematic to aquire:
2-Handed Axe - Melee I
Requires 8 steel, 35 Iron, 25 Wood; yields 141 WCXP on practice mode.
Best Path to take if you want to make sales before master:
Max out technique first.
Getting your own vendor:
Get business 3 so you can open a vendor, grind up to business 4. The longer you have your vendor the more merchant XP you get, even with no sales. The maintenance rate of a machine or droid vendor scales with the price of goods to be sold that are placed on it. At merchant one you get a NPC vendor that has a constant maintenance rate. Advertising 3 in the merchant tree will allow you to register on the planetary map.

I hope funny money is sufficent compensation for your new second job ![]()

Congrats, how long did it take u just for the ws
I think one month.... but not grinding all the time. I was mostely harvesting resoruces to guns and practicing on how to make a good gun.
It was my plan (lets just say MY holocron - not the holocron in game) to master Artisan, Merchant and Weaponsmith.
Now I did my final goal... It was easy to be Master Artisan. It was tough to be Master Merchant.... but now.... It was very hard to be Master Weaponsmith... But I did it.
When I'm looking at my resources I can see that I dont have all I need to make the Uber guns, but that doesnt matter. I know I'm not going to be rich right now... The joy of being WS is to make guns.. to see how they can be better. Try som new resources. Find what I need.
I did it.... I'm a new Master Weaponsmith
