Thread: A technical question on defense acuity for TKA

Here's a question (or 3) for people who know about the game mechanics for the melee classes:

1) Whatis defense acuity? (which is only gained by tka's)
The officialdescription claims that this improves the chance of successfully doing a block/dodge/counterattack. Now please correct me if I am wrong but to my knowledgeTKA's cannot dodge/block/counterattack - these abilities are specific to the other melee classes.

2) So what good doesitdo a TKA?

3) If it affects the probability of doing dodge/block/counter then surely it would be best combined with another skill like fencer/pikeman/swordsman? By this I mean it could possibly stack with the other melee professions.

If anyone could shed lighton this issue I would appreciate it greatly. I am posting this after having discussed the issue with more than five master TKAs and having been unable to come to a logical explanation.

Thanks.

This is only a belief on my part, but I think it is close to being true. It certain describes all the currently seen effects...

a. Defense Acuity is like Dodge or Block. It gives a chance of avoiding an attack.

b. Defense Acuity is its own thing and does not stack with Dodge or Block.

c. (this is just a guess) You must be unarmed for it to fire

d. It currently doesn't work

If it does work, then it works at extremely low odds. In its current form, it appears to have no value.

Another belief: Center of Being is working for TK, but it works by improving Defense Acuity (and Melee Defense). Since Defense Acuity is broken, Center of Being is of minimal value for TK.

If the devs fix Defense Acuity, then Center of Being should be good too.

Does anyone know differently?

Ok I think I get it now. It is the TKA's equivalent of the dodg/block/counterattack and basically is supposed to do any of the three if/when it works. Therefore it also wont stack with any other professions ability.

Thanks for the replies.

There are 3 defensive mods in the game. Block, counterattack and dodge. All elite combat professions with the exception of TKA get one of these attributes as their defensive mod.

Riflemen and Pikeman get block

Swordsmen and Carbineers get counterattack

Fencers and Pistoleers get dodge

These mods used to stack (stacking these produced the current ub3r l337 template that so many d00dz were using in PvP). It is unknown if they still do.

Defensive acuity is mixture of all three. From what I understand defensive acuity causes the TKA to either dodge, block or counterattack.

It is currently believed to be broken at the moment since when we use it with COB it does nothing.

From my observations DA is completely broken, as is our center of being. Rediculous.
