While I plan on mastering both professions in due time, I had heard that I might get nerfed. Meaning I would have my Stacking Defenses get nerfed. As it stand, you could master both and get a melee defensesomewhere around +170. Also, if you wanted to be a **edit** of PvP, there are some ranged trees you could go up to get to +198, and pair that with clothing mods of an extra +25.

While I would say that dabbling and getting the 198 isnt cool, I am not against it. So don't punish them and hurt me.

I put alot of time and thought into the format of my character. I REALLY wanted to be a melee class, so I looked what trees I could combine with TK (my love), that would make me better at it. It was then I realized that the entire Fencer tree was just as nice as the TK (if not better). So I wanted to then Master TK and Fencer, and get the defensive trees of Swords and Pike. Is that so wrong? I did this because I wanted to be an effective fighter WITHOUT the use of a pet. I wanted to be my own tank.

Is that so wrong?

Rumors and more. Melee/ranged and state defense stacking will continue, at most at most it will be capped. Block/counterattack/dodge stacking is likely to end.
