Thread: Mastering Bonuses
I have an idea that would be implemented across all professions and races. I believe that once a profession is mastered, a slight increase in your character's HAM stats should occur. I am thinking on the order of 10 points in each of the nine pools per profession mastered. However, if you mastered a profession once, say marksmen, then you would not receive the bonus for mastering it again. In addition, you could not migrate these additional points and would have to migrate points out of pools that are maxed in order to get the points. If you master enough professions, you might maximize your character's pools across the board and that would be fine. No more increases for you.
This would reflect the fact that if a real person mastered these professions, he/she would be smarter, faster, stronger and recover from exertions quicker as well. Mastering one profession would not give anyone a huge increase but if you mastered 10, 20 or 30 professions, well, you are special and would get a fairly serious increase in your stats.
If you feel this is too much, I have also considered perhaps tying the increase to the profession. For instance, master brawler and you get increases in health, strength and constitution only or something similar. Therefore scholarly pursuits would benefit the mind pools, dexterous pursuits, the action pools and physical pursuits the health pools. What is your opinion?
Oh, and for implementation, each player would be given a grace period to migrate his stats so that he could accept his points from prior professions mastered.
