Thread: Ideas for Uber TKA Loot

Being bored with some time on my hands I had the great idea of some loot specifically for TKA. Crap every other profession has nice looted dropped from time to time except TKA. A TKM hardly needs a unarmed speed or damage enhancement. So what would be cool for an unarmed master. Im going to list my ideas first then ideas for stats that would be usefull for an unarmed fighter.

Loot Ideas:

Ancient Droid Arm:

people familiar with TKA history know why this would be revelant, so Im not going to cut and paste the whole story of Arden Lyn. This could be the item which would cover one arm of a person similar to how a composite bracer, glove, ect would so it would with the exception that it would be all one piece, but it would still be relatively easy to code. This would be a good way to implement that Stun damage most here agree that would be a nice addition to TKA profession and would negate the whole "We need a weapon for an unarmed profession". Technically you are still unarmed. This would be a rare drop from high level mobs. What would be nicer if it was implimented as I would like to see it after the CR, it would be an item that a TKM and only a TKM could wear or use. Sorry bout your luck dabblers. "You dont have sufficent skill to use this item".

Belts

This idea has been kick around for a while and I think it would be good. Different color belts would represent differnt stats and/or defenses. For instance kill a Tusken Sniper and he happens to drop a Brown belt with +10 knockdown defense or a +10 resist to poison. These would work like skill tapes but would primarely relate to unarmed combat. You can have even rare belt drop like a Master Belt (red and white stripped) with +20 Lightsabre defense (once again a rare drop).

Katas

The same way Architects can make pretty crap for their homes a TKA artist's love is in the martial arts and the preservation of ancient and beautiful moves in the form of kata. These would not give any stats but would be a coveted item for veterans or other wanting to put on martial arts shows. You can have something like 15 avialble in the game and when you obtain all 15 you earn a master Kata and a title

...has completed all Kata quests. (or something similar)

These would come up in the form of random and rare mob quests that would show up for like one week every month and the paticular Kata offered would change in a similar way. I was thinking it could be and item on your data pad like a scroll and when you access it on a radial menue the tab "Preform XXX Kata" would show. Pick it and preform the kata. These items would be tradable.

Anyway thats just a couple ideas Ill post more when I think of them. Post your ideas.

I think it would be cool to get more 'profession related' clothing, but I'm not sure about the modifers... a belt to denote you've passed a TKM challenge or something would be cool.

By the way, you can get Auka'an loot that covers poison/disease resists.

Loving the Kata idea...

Say no to the chassis dealer. He may seem like a good guy but that greedy Bothan sonuvabitch will rob you of your pride and your dignity

Yea, we need more profession-related content, but I really hate "Uber-Loot" myself. It turns everything into a contest of: who has more time to burn; who has better stuff; and puts the economy in the toilet. We need diversity, not one singular best thing to keep the game fun.

Hell yea! TKM only (not uber) stuff! No love for the dabblers from me! Get out of my profession.

Belt ranks are a very western, Karate (instant gratification McBlackbelt's) idea for the most part. I don't want them in SWG... besides I have the highest belt around here anyway, I think, so whats the point?

Katas have been mentioned before, many times. I love the idea, but think the game needs more fixin' before adding on spit and polish. (or other garbage that will just introduce more bugs and imballance into the game)

Like all the ideas, nice job, but I LOVE the Kata section. "Preforme xxx Kata" would be awesome. Nice job and well laid out.

Yes, true, however I see kata as more of a hardcore TK thing. I don't think Kata should serve any purpose other than being eye candy. Have a large list of individual skills to choose from, and allow a TK via macro to string together a set of moves to create a form. That way forms can be personal, or inherited like a dojo form. Make the skills cost action, based upon how "big" the move is, so that you can't just spam a form all day in Coronet.
Pure spit and polish for the game. Give the ability to Fencers, Swordsmen, and Pikeman too BTW.

Laser beams would be be uber, and better yet if they just turned every TKM into a Jedi Master.
