I think the Teras Kasi tree should be expanded to make TKM a dedicated master of the profession. ATM TKM means naff all. I think The tree as it is ATM gives Novice TK and to become master you should have to use most if not all YA Skill Points to become a true Teras Kasi Master. Of course this will mean adding new skills and new Meditation ETC but lets face it we are Martial Artists as a master you should be dedicated to the profession.

The idea of elite elite professions was discussed back when they thought of the Urban Planner, an off shoot of the architects. I have no doubt they will get back to it. And implement it for many professions, but not anytime soon, not with Jedi, Combat, and GCW Revamp on the horizons

Would you add other weapons to the TKA then? A teras kasi artist, while focusing on the art would not be excluded from other martial combat forms, look at the Samurai, or Shaolin Monks. They both held wide breadth of skills. In the case of most Samurai, most were artisans and artists. In the case of the Shaolin, many were masters of multiple fighting styles and masters of many weapons. Restricting a person to only Teras Kasi, while it may be a focusing lifestyle, it is not an exclusive lifestyle.

I for one did for a time a focused martial Artist as my template, a master of many melee fighting styles, Teras Kasi Artist, Fencer and Swordsman. No I'm not a PVPer, I'm a role-player mostly, a PVE player secondly, and a PVPer rarely if ever. Currently I'm working on a new Role-playing focused template that includes Teras Kasi. Taking away my ability to learn other skills would prevent me from doing my RP focused template, and sure I could just RP it out, but I lose the in-game abilities to back up my characters role...

People need to remember that PVPers aren't the only people in the game. The mass of the players in the game are people just playing the game to have fun.

In the end, what you really are saying is that you want a class based system where you pick TKA (or any other profession for that matter,) as your class and you are nothing else, this defeats the flexibility of the SWG character system, makes everyone even more cookie cutter, and in the end does more harm then good for the TKA profession, and the overall free feeling of the game.

Personally this suggestion has come up before, and it's getting old and stale. Realize that if the suggested change would happen, there would be an outcry to do the same to EVERY other profession. It's ideas like this that take away from what the community should really be focusing on, and that's the balancing of all professions to one another in the same class, i.e. ranged with ranged, melee with melee.

The idea of elite-elite professions seems to come up repeatedly, and it is an excellent idea. Unfortunately, the work that would go into creating what is in essence an entirely new profession, balancing it within the current system, comign up with new skills and ensuring they work without overlapping previous ones, as well as the issues of coding, etc., mean that this is an enormous project. And what happens when you have mastered this advanced advanced profession? Should there be more? Ultimatley, there needs to be an end to how far your skills in one profession can take. Feel free to keep brainstorming ideas, come up with some ideas for skills as well as trees, prereqs and other things that would be needed to design the new profession. But realize that making all of this a reality is an enormous project.

One thing they could do is have a tree for powers similar in some respects to force powers, but not relying on the force. The general description ofTeras Kasi is that the powers come from within while a Jedi relies on the force. In the martial arts, Ki is the internal energy of the body that can be channeled by martial artists fora number of purposes. If they were to do an elite Teras Kasi, I wouldn't mind seeing a Ki tree. They could havea damage line (this could do damage no matter what kinetic resists exist), a movement line (run, combat movement speed), a meditate line, and an armor line (lookup marital arts termiron shirt and you'll see what I mean). Just a thought and suggestion.
