I ask this because I have aquired quite a few unarmed speed armor attachments. Will they make a difference if I have +5 or +10 to speed at the master level?

yep...even if your weapon is speed delay 10 you will still shoot every special at 1 second

If you have master brawler your speed caps at Power 4.

Is the cap 100 like it is with pistols?

Here's the deal...

The way speed works is, take your weapon speed and multiply it by the speed multiplier of the move you're doing. For example, a regular attack has no multiplier, so it is always the same speed as your weapon (if you have a 2.2 VK, it takes you 2.2 seconds to attack something). All specials have multipliers that slow down the speed of the attack (see the SWG Damage Calc and look at the "delay mod" for each attack).

Then you take your speed bonus and subtract it from 100, and then divide by 100. So, if your speed mod is 50, you subtract 50 from 100 and get 50, then divide 50 by 100 and get 0.5. Then you multiply that by the speed generated from above.

Another way to think of it is that your speed modifier is a percentage of time reduced from your attacks. Speed of +50 then reduces your attack delay by 50%, effectively making you twice as fast.

So, let's take someone with a speed of +40 (a Teras Kasi Novice with Master Brawler), a 2.0 speed vibroknuckler, who is spamming Unarmed Hit 2. His weapon speed is 2, which means a 2 second delay between attacks, but UAH2 has a delay modifier of 2.5, meaning that you multiply 2*2.5 giving you a 5 second delay between attacks (ick). But then you factor in speed, and with a +40 that means you multiply the delay by 0.6 (100-40=60, 60/100=0.6). 5*0.6 is 3. So when you start hitting that UAH2 hotkey over and over, there's a 3 second delay between attacks.

One thing to remember is that the fastest an attack can ever be is 1. That means you can never have less than a 1 second delay between attacks. So let's say you get your unarmed speed bonus up to +90, and you still have that same vibroknuckle and want to spam UAH2. Again, take the speed of the VK (2) and multiply it by the delay mod of the attack (2.5) to get a speed of 5. Then factor in your speed modifier (100-90=10, 10/100=0.1), and 5*0.1 is 0.5. That means it would be a half second delay between UAH2 attacks, but since you can't go faster than 1 second, you're "capped" at 1.

Now what happens when your speed gets up to 100? Well, 100-100=0, and 0/100=0. What happens when you multiply anything by 0? You get 0. So if your speed is 100, every attack no matter what is at 0 speed. Of course, again you can't go faster than 1 second, so your attacks are all at 1 second. So if you get to 100, no matter your weapon speed, no matter the delay on your special move, every single attack has a delay of 1 second. The same applies to any speed of better than +100, since at that point your speed becomes a negative number which is again lower than 1.

Every move, every profession, every weapon uses the exact same speed formula. So no matter what you're doing, if your speed bonus for that weapon is 100 or higher, you do 1 second for your attacks.

(This is how those riflemen spam super fast attacks with the slowest T-21s... A Master Rifleman with Master Marksman has +95 to speed, and if they get a +5 speed attachment and suddenly they have +100 speed and have a 1 second delay on any attack. Even a rifleman with a 12 speed T-21 doing Strafe Shot 2 that would have a 60 second delay between attacks without a speed bonus only has a 1 second delay between attacks.)
