Thread: What I am doing wrong? TKM in combat

Maybe its me, but I am not getting along with the new TKA design. I am a TK-Master, Novice Ranger, Medic 4234 ( once Master medic ), Brawler 4040.

I tried out to do some fighting with the new skills. Here are my issues:

1) I am not getting any different anis for my moves. Its always either a punch or a kick. What am I doing wrong?

2) no matter what move I use I deal almost no damage at all. I almost even hit never as well. Only around 10% of knockdowns work at all. What am I doing wrong ( I am not using armor ).

3) What about the TKA's being tanks? One hit takes around 25% of my Health and I am hit regularily and fast.

4) Why am I so slow? Each move takes about 2-5 seconds. Wasn't combat meant to get faster? Again what am I doing wrong?

I'm sure I'm missing some stuff, so feel free to add some stuff in guys...


Don't equip a weapon, they seem to be lowering our damage.
Be sure to use the ability "Center of Being". It helps a lot.
Go after appropriate level stuff. No more attacking reds.

VK's do like 300 damage, without them on 'melee hit' i do 600


Melee Strike does slightly better at 670'ish


powerboost seems to do absolutely nothing


and the best of all. the MASTER skill of 'combo attack' does half the damage of a basic melee strike, 300..



TKM = Joke..

however with out innate armor currently and center of being we now are a true tanking class, Now all we need is a working taunt. and Just because powerboost isn't buffing your health anymore, does not mean is doesn't work. I've noticed some extremely speed up regeneration for my ham after using powerboost. Which seems to also stack with doctors buffs, making a very easy to maintain ham bar.


Tips for fighting for the new tkas and the vets who think we're useless.


1.) save you KDs for when you need them

i find the more opportunistic time to KD is when i need to reapply CoB, or when the mob turns around to go after the spamming rifleman or doc. Use leg sweep if you can, Lunge only if you can't get in range.


2.) Keep Dizzy and armorbreak applied always. These seem easier to stick when the opponent is KDed. Dizzy seems to be acting as a mini blind debuff now. And armorbreak is going to help you dish out a little more damage.


3.) Taunt taunt and taunt. To hold agro you have to use this about as much as you use melee hit. everytime you can use it USE it. It's possible to hold agro, but very demanding of your attention.


4.) center of being, always always have this up, start it before the fight starts,a never let it go down for more than the time it takes you to start it back up again.


5.) if you have novice medic, toss in a few self heals to maintain agro you're little blue bar isn't doing much anything else so you might as well use it as a secondary taunt.


Right now the only actual issues i see with TKA is


- Knucklers don't seem to be doing their proper damage

- Combo does not function correctly

- Taunt still seems a little weak

- Force of will seems bugged

-No one knows what Powerboost does at the moment.

- Center of being (if used before it's time has run out can sometimes cause it to go into recycle without re-applying the effect)

- Animations for our attacks are missing in action.

right on all accounts here guys... bottom line CU = buggy POS that was rushed out, for whatever reason.

Sorry, but what is KD? What does agro serve for? And what is the effect of dizzy? Thanks

Agro is a term meaning you've caused a critter/NPC to take an aggrevated interested in you (aka you've gotten them to "lock on" to you and fight). As a "tank" this is important in group fighting - you want to aggro groups of critters to keep them away from the others who can engage the critters at range and with stronger attacks than you might have. Since a TK isn't good a group control but very good in defense, my thoughts is that the TK would want either good back up when aggro'ing several critters or will want to agro a single, top level critter if there isn't too many people in the group so the group can focus on the toughest threat first. (My 2 cents - there are tons of folks here with the experience of MMO group combat that I really lack).


Dizzy makes the opponent, well, dizzy Prior to CU, that made them more prone to knockdowns and less prone to recovering from a KD, but I haven't really observed that yet. Any state you put on an opponent will degrade their ability to fight.
