Thread: Are TK weapons borked or working as intended?

As many people have noticed, TKs do more damage with their bare fists than they do with VKs or Blaster Fists. Plus, when you fight with bare fists, there's almost no action drain. So what purpose do the weapons serve? Is this a bug, or intentional? If it's the latter, the only reasoning I can think of is that you're supposed to use the weapons against baddies with high kinetic resists. Of course, it's impossible for me to tell what resists the bad guys have....is this a scout skill, or something? And if so, does a non-scout like me have to memorize what resists everything has? Do they even have different resists anymore?


Also, the cool down timers are making combat boring and frustrating. I spend most of my time looking at the toolbar trying to figure out which special I can use. It would be so much better if each special had its own unique timer. That would still prevent spamming the same special over and over again, but it would also speed up combat because you could quickly use one special after the other instead of throwing a punch then just standing there like an idiot for a few seconds. Aren't TKs supposed to be fast?


I'm not a fan of the CU, but fixing these problems, and increasing XP, would make it much more acceptable. They also need to fix the screwed up specials. I seem to be doing much more damage with brawler specials than with TK specials.

Today I respec'd and kept master TKA but stacked pikeman 3441 on to it. The difference in damage delivery and usefulness of moves from a pikeman at 3441 versus all the moves available to a master TKA is alarming. I am doing at least triple if not 4x the damage to enemies as a pikeman with a vibro lance equipped. As a master TKA I am barely able to complete the same missions and find myself eating food and powerboosting seperately for each inidividual spawn.

The difference is not defense but the ability to take down the enemy before they empty your health out. The other problem is that when a TKA equips a vibro knuckler, the amount of damage and speed gets WORSE. After equipping a vibro lance tonight and going to town on missions at 4x the speed as my 3441 pike vs MASTER TKA, I am in disbelief that I amsimply a better combatant at pikeman 3441. I really hope the devs are keen to this. I can see TKA doing less damage but come on, this is really bad!

Areas that are a problem:

1) Vibro knucklers? Worthless.

2) Overall damage? Terribly out of balance, even if the intention was to make it weaker - did they really think TKA should be THAT weak?

3) Animations! Even if the move isn't doing additional damage, the player should feel like the move is being executed still or something to make it feel like we're not standing around half the time.

4) Consider more moves or at least make the ones we do have worhtwhile even ifthey have a high action cost.

All I know for sure right now, is that vk's are broke. Maybe the devs will fix it and we'll be dealing some decent damage without any other changes. But right now all I can say is that a lot of people are going to leave the profession - its not worth keeping unless you want good defenses. I realized today that all of my TKA moves except advanced combo have been replaced by pike moves on my toolbar. And even at that, advanced combo is still one of my weakest moves up there. I hope the devs read this. I try to be as helpful and direct as I can. This is not a flame or troll, I think this profession is close to what it needs to be, but please tell me that they're re-evaluating some of this!
