Thread: How do we fair in high lvl PVE

So here I am fighting the Tuskin king..

BAM BAM.. I'm dead.. Two hits and I'm laying on the ground dead.

In the mean time every gun in the joint is shooting him all up.. He ignores them.

So here's my question.. I know I'm not going to be good in PVP but what about high lvl PVE.. Are we destined to suck in both areas of fighting? Do high lvl mobs bring us down while the pistol jockeys are perfectly fine at range?

I would like to hear from some masters and near masters on this subject.

Thank you for your knowledge.

I'll have master tonight if i work for it. I have no problem soloing anything. I took down the ancient bull rancor at the destroyed base on Dathomir. Was really fun. He hits for 500 damage and does insta bleed...500 damage per tick. Fun lil bugger. How did i beat him? Not with Vk's or melee. I'm also a CH and a carbiner. I let my pet aggro, equiped my laser carbine and whooped him in 6 minutes. *L*

But as for TKA fighting...umm, do what i do. Get a pet, let it aggro, then attack. If you get the agg and it hits for a LOT, knockdown 2, run back a little while your pet keeps hitting it, let the mob re-aggro your pet, move back to fight it. Here's another trick, remove your Vk's, you can hit from up to 5m i believe without them.

Sometimes i'll stand behind my pet, at that range, without vk's, spamming KD and hitting. Mobs seem to aggro whatever is closest to them, so if you move to 1m and your pet attacks from 2m, it's aggroing you.

Sad but true, as is, if you want good xp, you'll need to have some CH levels. Yes you CAN do it without, but it takes twice as long and you'll die more often.

You want the perfect combo? Ok, go to baz nitches, send pet to attack, it gets aggro. (You need to have knockdown 1 as TKA, CH novice and carbiner novice.). Use action shot 2 as carbiner, it's bugged and does AE knockdown+bleed+stun on mobs. Well, bleeds 1, high damage on others. So, you fire, all of them go down, 1 is bleeding, and all took high damage. Then run up, switch to vk's and pound. They all get up? Switch to laser carbine, fire another action shot 2, switch back to vk's. This way you can solo just about any amount of mobs.

Cheap but hey, you want good combat xp no? Ranged users get it, you'd be stupid to pass it up.

That is the worst advice you could have possibly given. Learn how to fight like a true warrior. Leave the pets in your gameboy advance.

Yeah no offense but that's some rotten advice centered around things being nerfed.

Knockdown does over 400 damage to our ham.. Not something you'll spam.. nor something you'll be able to use to remove aggro.

It sounds to me like high lvl mobs are guaranteed to hit you hard.. 400 to 500 plus. So TKA has to suck at those levels. You're likely running around fighting greens and blues cause 2 hits from a high lvl and you're dead.

And yes.. this doesn't include spamming knockdown like you currently can.. Soon that reality will be gone.

I will hit master as well tonight and don't have problems soloing high level mobs with NO pets. I take down things that con red to me and get 4-5k a kill. You just have to find what mob you can fight well and stick with those. My suggestion is to explore and try different mobs and see what works for you.

/agrees with everyone else except the initial responder.

TKA's are good at pve, it's what we do. I think that you're rushing too quickly into fights, and not using any strategy. Unless what I'm fighting is blue or lower con, I don't usually approace until I've asessed the situation and come up with a plan of attack.

u suck at pvp and u suck at high end pve.

the only way for you to tackle high end mobs is knock down, but many ofthose high end mobs r very resistance to knock down, and most are only knock downable in the end of fight when they are low on hp (not to mention the upcoming knock down nerf). so when they hitu for1000-3000 dmg per hit,its always instant death.

also no matter what the mobs were fighting and for how long,IE sending in pets first, as soon as a PC melee goes in for the fight, the mobturns around and attacks the PC rightaway. even if u only send in pets, but u r standing close by to watch, some of those high end mobs have Area Attacks that do 2000+ dmg, so u r adviced to not even go close to them.

I am a Master CH and Master TKA, my strategy of hunting high end mob is send in pets and pull out my sliced master smith CDEF pistol and shoot from far away. its sad.

we are only melee, not tanks.

Yeah...don't tell a TKA that he needs an unbalanced pet in order to survive.Imho, it's totally cheap that low level ch's can tame a pet that has such high resists and health that it can tank almost anything, even the Ancient Bull Rancor (whatever that is ).

On another note, what causes an enemy to focus his attention on a given thing that's fighting it? Is it whoever's closest? Whoever's doing the most damage? Whoever's in charge? A reasonablyintelligent mob should know that the guy lying there pronewitha rifle will be an easy kill, rather than having it trade punches withthe guy's pet, and it should attack him instead.

I get so depressed when I thin about this; how much easier it is for ranged users. I really wish there were some way that TKA's could tank...

you are not supposed to be able to fight things that are that tuff by yourself. When will people learn?

That is why they are nerfing CH. They are abused.

No it doesn't. It doesn't now, it doesn't after the patch. I again refer you to actual tester data from TK's on the Test Center server, that was posted in this forum that clearly broke down the hard numbers on the knockdown change. do you have any evidence for your claim of 400 damage? Didn't think so.

even in a group, if u get buffs from master doctor and eat master smuggler spices, u can boost you hp to roughly 4000-5000, then u put on a full set of composite armor, well, u can survive may befive hits while the doctor is healing you.

once the CH pets are nerfed, range kiting run and shoot would be the only way to hunt high end mobs.

TKA can dish out massive dmg, but we can not take any, and we are the ones getting hit.
