Thread: TKA Defense Bonuses and Pistoleer Defense Bonuses..

Hi peeps,

Just curious, do any of the defensive mods stack with the pistoleer defensive mods, etc.

As let's say i'm in combat with my pistol (I'm a Master Smuggler, btw) and I come up vs a BH who uses eyeshot on me. Will my Defense vs Blind TKA mods come into play and will my Ranged Defense mods stack with the ones i have from the Marksman and Pistoleer tree to cause me to become a harder target?

If anyone has the low down on the mods that will stack and the ones that won't, i'd be grateful to see them posted here.

Does melee defense stack? As pistoleer and marksman get a small set of bonuses in this area too. So currently due to TKA and the pistol bonuses for melee defense, etc, i'm at +29 melee defense. Does this all work as one single bonus or would it only apply the specific parts of said bonus depending on if i'm holding a pistol or going unarmed?

Wow, someone else is think about this too

I don't know for sure if they stack yet, but I need unarmed 4 for smuggler (low blow and last ditch are too cool) so I figured I could use the combat XP I'll gain form moving up the Smuggler line to get the defenses in the TKA line.

Hope they stack; I'll know in a few weeks either way...

Also, stacking the defenses to knockdown, etc., are very very tempting...

Skills like ranged defense and posture change defense apparently do stack (I have not personally tested). weapon specific skills like unarmed toughness and two-handed toughness do not stack.

Thanks Heavy, I hope your right (pretty sure you are).

With Master Gunfighter (i'm 2-4-4-3, yeah me!) and 0-4-0-4 TKA you can have some of the best defenses in the game.

agreed Soss,
This looks like I may need to do a little skill shuffling to allow me to get as many defensive mods as i can from tka and pistoleer

This could be a seriously mean pvp template.

This is from www.swgcenter.com...

Defense vs. Blind: +30

Defense vs. Dizzy: +25

Defense vs. Knockdown: +50

Defense vs. Posture Change(Down): +40

Defense vs. Stun: +35

Dodge: +20

Melee Defense: +47

Ranged Defense: +41

Looks good to me

You know, if these all stack, then it's no surprise that many non pistoleers cry nerf all the time. As I've so far found my Smuggler, Pistoleer, TKA template to be effective in all types of combat.
It allows me to solo anything in the game in PvE, and in PvP i can hold my own due to the high defensive bonuses i have.

That's why I plan on using a TKA title, or no title at all, to keep the pistoleer haters off my back (unless they watch the combat spam...).

All the complaining really drives me nuts, though. Everyone has the same opportunity to go for any profession they choose...if one is more powerful / better, so what?

We will give up a lot going Smuggler 0-0-4-0, Master Pistoleer & TKA 0-4-0-4. I will have enough skill points to have some decent med skills and novice scout (assuming I need to throw a camp to pull a mount, but that is pretty up in the air...). Master of only one profession... and we need smuggler for the best pistol attacks!

Sorry for the rant...

So are there any other TKA's who know about this stacking info?

I'd really like to get some hard facts and proof.
I'm going to be running some tests soon to see if i can work it out.

Weren't these same defenses stackable in beta and were found too powerful in combination, leading to the defenses not working at all like they did for so long? So much changes I lose track...

Also, folks are calling for stackable offensive bonuses to be nerfed (ie BH dabblers getting insane speed and accuracy stackingwith pistoleer or carbineer mods).

If folks are united against offensive mods not stacking, I think they'd also be united against defensive mods not stacking.Time will tell. Folks have been calling for the end of the offensive stacking, and if that happens I see the end of defensive stacking as well.

As it currently stands, this looks great on paper... I just don't expect that it (a) works and (b) would be allowed to work for long if it does.

I don't see any issue with dabblers going for offensive/defensive bonuses purely to be one up on their opponent, etc.
If they wish to spend all their skill points in this set up, more power to them, i certainly wouldn't.
So the criers and whiners who say this stuff shouldn't stack, well they should rethink their strategies of attack.
I don't even pvp really, so it is trivial to me whether or not dabblers are getting the advantages over other players. But the way i see it is, if you're purely pvp then you should be looking for the best template you can find for the best and strongest accuracy, defense, offense, resists, etc. I think that's fair to do. Or everyone would end up as cookie cutter templates that all behave the same regardless of their chosen professions. Which really would be lame.

But anyway, please let's keep the thread on topic. I want to hear from TKA's who are able to give some good evidence/proof/input on what types of defense bonuses stack together with other professions bonuses such as Pistoleer, etc.

Hey NJ,

heh as you can see by my signature I am on the same path. What I am hoping is that by the time I get there the defense mods will out weigh any need for meds because I will have no medic skills at that point. I guess I'll just find a doc friend to buff me all the time.

Good luck bro.
