i have been playing swg for only 3 weeks now. i have been reading this board to learn the finer points of the teras kasi artistry, and all i have learned about the pvp side is how easily we are kited. taking this into consideration i duel'd 4 people all ranged with my novice tka, 2 with vk's, 2 without. everytime i got my butt handed to me becuase i could not catch them. seems to be a problem with everybody. so i went bought the marksmens skill and trained in carbine. i chose carbine because its specials seem to concentrate on your opponents action pool. i trained to carbine 4 and then duel'd 4 more people (who thought that i was a apprentice carbine specialist only) they proceded to shoot, the two pistol slingers ran up to me and were shooting my right in the face. imagine their suprise when i pulled out the vk's and started to beat them like a 4 year old at k-mart. then they ran i re-equiped my lazer carbine and used leg shot untill they were incapacitated. the amazing thing is it worked all four times. in my opinion if you choose only one combat skill. you weaken yourself because you have no other option. at least you will not get eaten alive trying to run down and smear your apponent. eh just my 2 credits on the whole thing. it so far has worked for me, maybee it will work for you. any comments by the more experience pvpers would be cool.

yep. you got it goin on. I'm a tka and i'm all about pvp. I still have to experiment with my pvp a little bit, but I have a few tactics. I chose the pistol for its speed and close range. If I start from like 30m I can use suppression fire, then try a warcry while running closer and unequipping my pistol and using lunge when i can. then when i get point blank i can either try another warcry if my first didnt work or get them dizzied on the ground. then I can blind and intimidate them, rendering them pretty defenseless once they get up or come out of warcry. then i use berserk to try and get some dmg in real quick using tka, and if they run i switch to pistol and apply some bleed after zerk wears off.

Diversification is the key for US to rule in PvP.A pistoleer could care less about learning TK skills.

I prefer my 9k HAM, 300 attack, ranged, poison-causing Giant Crystal Snake. But then again, I don't get kited. I don't chase people enough for them to "kite" me. They can't shoot through walls, and I realized that was to my advantage long ago. Hell, even AT-STs can't do it.

The thing about PvP is playing to your strengths, not theirs. In the wide open, you deserve to die to a novice marksman. You should use your surroundings to your advantage. Lunge has 15m range, remember that. And I get "That target is out of range" a lot too, but I hit the hotkey fast enough that eventually it hits, then it's ctrl + backspace, dizzy, /spam hit3. Once I get within 15m, you're incap'd. Unless there's an AT-ST shooting at me, you're dead too

HA! Classic

My ranged kiting solution is to call my 3 Grand Wrixes on them -IF- they kite(Oh, did I forget to meantion those cats over there were mine? Oops) otherwise, I take great pleasure in beating them to soup myself.
