Do you go to the hardware store to buy a new, but broken toilet and hope that someday it won't leak CRAP all over your floor anymore?

Cute analogy. Too bad we cant return our item to the store or get warranty work done on it.

Hit the nail on the head to be honest.

Although Holo is now on vacation for2 weeks and even if he were here, getting a comment out of him in reply to this would be like getting blood from a stone.

*Note: This is a repost of a post I submitted on the SWG discussions boards, but I'd also make sure the TK community has a chance to see it, and post in accordance, if of course they do agree with this treatise*

I recently took a break from Star Wars Galaxies as it was simply getting too frustrating to play my character how I wanted to play him, I leveled him to Master in my chosen profession but I was still not allowed to play him how I believe all combat classes should have been intended to play in the higher echelons: In Player versus Player combat.

As a melee character it was simply too difficult if not impossible to fight anyone with the most basic skills with a ranged weapon, not to mention frustrating when you die in a few hits to someone with who hadn't even reached novice in an elite profession. In fact, it was (and still is) downright embarrassing to hang my "Teras Kasi Master" title: I'm gimped and everyone knows it, not only can I not have fun with my chosen profession, but I worked very hard (I.E.- Xped, and spent subscription money) only to become a mockery of what a combat class should be.

So let me illuminate the point I am trying to make with this post: Read closely:

Nobody that has worked so hard to master their profession should be so impotent.

Fast forward to yesterday, when I decide to give the game another shot, after all, I thought: The big patch came out, there has to be something good of it.

Little do I know that even my PvE abilities are gone:

HAM costs are making melee professions all but extinct.

I don't care about knockdown, I didn't think spamming it was quite fair or how things were intended to be anyway, but it should not do more damage to me than to the enemy I use it against, this is simply ridiculous. A timer across the board would have solved immediately all problems with knockdown being exploited.

I cannot kite, but of course mobs with blasters still kite me, my berserk does less damage than ever, and that's if I catch up with mobs that will not go melee and engage me. The mobs go melee, simply tax me so much that it's mandatory to med for about 2-5 minutes between battles.

As far as I can tell, melee classes are the only ones that have been gimped not only in PvP, but PvE.

You already know the PvP problems, you've heard them all before, yet still you don't listen, still the gap between melee and ranged widens, what have we done as players to earn your scorn? To become your unwanted professions?

Often times when I read Holo's arrogant and offhanded remarks and quotes regarding melee ("Don't bring a knife to a gunfight"..."We're simply giving up on melee versus ranged.") Lead me to believe that in fact he does have some kind of personal vendetta against the profession we value so much, even when we're stricken with worthlessness, bugs, and anomalies of all sorts.

I find many of them quite offensive, not to mention this one: ("You have to admit it's oddly satisfying to design a game people play to hate.")

Quite simply, do you have any excuse for these rude and outstanding declarations Holo? Do you think it's really "nice" to neglect not only a profession you seem to dislike, but also players of MMORPGs in general?

I think a retraction in order.

So.....I ask any developer that will listen. (So far Holo hasn't.) Tell me why the gulf between melee and ranged continues to widen across the board in PvE and PvP, seemingly with every adjustment you make to game mechanics. Tell me why I'm not valued as much as your other paying customers just because I decided to choose a profession that of course you offered me in the first place.

As developers I strongly believe you've given up on a whole branch of your players, and it's not right. We will not rest until we receive the gaming experience we deserve.

Nice and well worded. I agree with it muchly.

I happened to stop by AC2hq.com the other day to take a looksee at what people are saying about the nice screen saver, Asheron's Call 2, these days. Everyone that played it knows what a failure it was.

People are still pleading with the devs to fix tons and tons of stuff with that game. Idunno what i'm saying really. But OMG, when will there be a game where the devs actually really really seem to care?

Why is it that so many games hit the shelf bugged and broken like they do? How is this not illegal? Do you go to the hardware store to buy a new, but broken toilet and hope that someday it won't leak CRAP all over your floor anymore?

Ever notice that old games like Doom and Heretic or even old Nintendo games can be more fun than the high tech ones we have today?

I don't think i'm telling you anything new here but the entertainment industry isn't about entertainment anymore, IT"S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!

....or at least that's what they seem to want us to think for some reason and it's working just fine!
