I'm a 4/1/1/2 TK, 4/2/1/2 as soon as I get some training. Right now my unarmed toughness mod is +29. As I understand it, when fighting a creature that does kinetic damage, I should be seeing a 29% reduction in damage that's dealt to me.
Recently I've been trying to adjust to the idea of fighting without armor, and I've noticed that when I am completely unarmored, the combat spam and floaty damage are exactly the same, which suggests to me that I'm taking full damage and that my UT isn't doing anything. Is this right? Is there a bug with either UT or the spam numbers?
Let me know if I'm missing something.

Play around with getting hit between holding a CDEF and holding nothing, you'll see the difference. Like the other guy said it's calculated before you see the dmg spam. It's not like armor where you get 100dmg, then seee that your armor right bicep blocked 56dmg of it or whatever.

Any toughness modifiers are taken into account before the damage is shown in your combat window. If you would have another weapon equipped you would notice higher damage in the combat window ![]()

That is correct. Watch how hard they are hitting your pets and others, the difference can be quite an eye opener. I'm just glad I don't see spam for toughness as there's already too much to read. It would be nice if we could toggle armor messages, etc.

And try going another melee profession and you'll think TKA is godly. Oh lesse... the greater womp did about 50 to 70 damage to me with TKA. And about 120-150 with Novice swordie. Yup... I'd say its working.. lol

Thanks for the replies. I'm glad to know that UT is working.
So, next question, since I've never really been clear on this: does UT reduce all kinds of damage that I take as long as *I* am fighting unarmed, or does it only apply when my attacker is doing unarmed (ie, kinetic) damage?
