Is it advisable to use VKs before you get the cert to use them? Anyone done any experimenting with this?

Yes
Find a pair with 1.6 speed on it.. it doesn't do but maybe 30 less damage then regualr.. but you hit faster.
Also find you a full suit of 70%+ advanced ubese armor.

Yes
With a 1.6 speed VK you will hit at least two times for every one hit without..
At LEAST!
And you will have major fun when you hit Novice TK. I got there last night and... WOW!

The vks I used to novice TKA were 2.2 speed. I hit about twice as often as my friend who did not use vks. Damage was about the same as not using vks. Ex...without vks I got roughly 900xp from a mountain squill on a good run with a mauler to tank. With vks, I got 2200-2500xp per mountain squill with a mauler to tank. You do the math.
