Thread: I have not really checked this forum out since I've mastered TK [Voice of a Veteran]

It's funny how typical things really really are. I remember a time when there was very minimal negativity on this TK board. When we would give each other advice, complain about how crappy we were and just generally have mostly constructive discussions. Now everytime I even glance over the threads here its all whining from other people about how overpowered TK was. It's more funny because before when things were normal you could look out your window and see this coming. Visiting the Pistoleer BH or Commando boards and you'd see the same thing. We finally got our dev attention. And with that attention came the same attention that plagued the BH / Commando / Pistoleer boards.

History always repeats itself. But I've been a TK since launch. I worked really REALLY excrutiatingly hard on this profession. You can say its all easy now, and maybe it is. But you do not deserve to come here and whine like this and set us up for the same fall as Pistoleers and Commandos. Because thats all thats going to happen to us when enough whining ensues.

Just because of a few Flavor of the Month idiots jumped the bandwagon, the profession I've wanted to play for a LONG time before SWG came out has nerf months away on the horizon. You know I never even though we'd ever become a FOTM. I was so sure about how everyone wanted to avoid melee I felt safe and SPECIAL for being a TK. A lot of my old TK friends had switched out because "TK sucks" or melee sucks. Now when it works, it should be nerfed?

Don't send the Devs negative messages that are unwarranted. They addressed our profession first for some reason, and it came out well. You will ALL get your attention in the coming Combat Profession Balance. Patience is a virtue. The fact is 90% of you are probably trying to become Jedi, so you should definitely know to learn patience. After all it is what Jedi's value most!

(Well in the EU, on SWg they value krayt pearls more )

P.S. : Please leave TK alone. I apologize for all the idiots abusing everyone else by whoring this profession out.

I hate to break it to you, but you aren't special because you've been a TKM for a few months. This post has as much meaning as all the others whining for a nerf.

huh? Don't think some ppl can read!

I agree with --Xavierov, also been a TK since launch and its bee na roller coaster ride so far. It finally leveled out and got mostly fixed. Nerfing it now would be almost the stupidest thing done so far.

!@$#!$ edit button

It's a little easier for the power gamer now but harder for the casual gamer. It's really to bad that it became a FoM and cookie cutter.

It's not a FoM to me (I know it IS a FoM) But I dont play it like one, in fact I've been relatively sheltered from the idea it was one because I've never wanted to perceive it as one. It's just my profession as it always was -- and now it works. And im happy. And I hate that others are trying to take that from me, and the rest of us.

LOL this guy is one of those pathetic bandwagoneers who come into the profession only when they hear it's uberor fixed, not because they wanted to play it for the hell of it or had a natural love for it.....bah, too many pahtetic powerseekers like him around here..........He's the type that will go through all hell to defend TK's uberness and then when it gets nerfed, he'll just flock to the next FotM and templates......

RyushiYoshi, I find it oh so interesting how you can tell what this person is like just from one post he has made, shame on you,

You say he is only of the people who only did tk once it was fixxed? And WHAT is bad about that? For example, you wanna be a pikeman? No... maybe cus the devs need to wake up and fix it? Then people will use it... Im sure then people will whine about ones who had not been a pikeman from day 1...

I agree with him, being a tka from day 1 gives you no more right to change peoples opinions then anyone else, we are all free people.. But I do agree that tka is one of the classes LEAST needing a nerf, as right now its not overpowered, infact the only people I have seen say it is are newbies who got killed by a tkm in a duel or something *shrugs*.

I don't think the devs pay too much attention to nerf whiners. For all intents and purposes the only true combat specific profession nerf was the Riflemen's T-21. If you sit down and actually THINK of true true nerfs targeted at a specific profession that's about the only one you'll come up with.

Creature Handlers were balanced twice to disable the dabblers effectiveness (while still making mastery effective) and knockdowns were nerfed across the board for all professions. I think the devs treat all the TKA nerf callers the way the majority of TKA's do. They see it asannoying at best utterly uninformed and not worth the board space it takes up at worst. The moment you say "THAT TKA KNOCKED ME DOWN FROM 20 METERS NERF TKA" we like the devs ignore you because you don't know what you are talking about.

My 2 favorite examples of moronic nerf callers was some guy complaining about TKA because he said that when he dueled he would spam charge shot 1 and it wouldn't stick but the TKA's knockdown did. So since he couldn't spam his attack he want's TKA nerfed. This same poster went on to call for a "TKA" nerf because when he would run away the "TKA" would pull out a rifle and the "TKA" would begin firing onhim with a rifle so the "TKA" needs to be nerfed. People lose and whatever tag they see over the person's head that profession needs a nerf. I'm just waiting for the day that someone says "THAT MEDIC KNOCKED ME DOWN WITH LOWBLOW NERF MEDICS"

The second was that stupid post by Maelstrom_1 that floated around here for days. I wouldn't even mention it if it wasn't for the fact that it was on page 1 for so long. The guys wearing 80% kinetic composite and is jacked up on doc buffs, food buffs and spice and he's saying "TKA" needs to be nerfed because he can solo rancors. No matter how many times we told him that it was the buffs, spice and armor he would just come back with "oh you TKA's are so blind to how obviously overpowered you are"

Most nerf calls are of this caliber of "accuracy" and the I'm sure devs realize that 99.9% of nerf calls are from people who lost a duel, come to the forums and bang out a rant in all caps and bad spelling so they, like us, ignore them.

The negativity you hear in the forumsis the result of frustration.Frustrationas a by product of expectations and reality notintersecting.

In other words: People get pissed off when what they thought would make them "uber" gets hit with the nerf bat.

This game is no where near finished. Combat in SWG is being completely reworked and as my Commando friends have found out the effect to their egos and expectations can have a overwhelming effect.

To come to this or any forum and complain about FoM bringing negativity is ridculous. I have been a Master TK for months but never posted to this forum until recently. I was a Master Commando/Master TK and chose to drop commando not TK when the Holo's called. I have mastered and PLAYED 8 skill trees so far. I have dropped all of them but TK to take up a new skill set ( working on Pistoleer and smugglar now ).

Things change and will change again and soon for the TK no doubt. "Veterans" should see this change coming and give good advice not whine about the "good old days" (no offense).

Yes, a good post - Whilst I can certainly not claim to have been around in the hard times of TKA, I did choose this profession as an ideal rather than a skillset. I positively refuse to give this up for some holocron, and will take the rough with the smooth.

On the note of negativity, I have noticed that things have seemed to roll downhill somewhat since Mister_Heavy announced his resignation from the roll of TKA correspondent. I do believe that having such a keen supported in contact with the devs has helped keep us occupied and in good spirits (and possibly to a certain extent kept the nerfherders at bay!), so I can only hope that either a replacement is found soon, or Mister_Heavy suddenly changes his mind

Thanks a lot for the 95% mature feedback. And to someone who said something along the lines "pikeman is broke would you want to be a pikeman" If you read my initial post .. TK was broke and I full head on dove into that profession. Why? Because I love it oh so much. I love Teras Kasi, I love the skills, I love the trees, I love the animations, I absolutely love the Role Play, I love the fact its not a cookie cutter profession and has unique abilities to its own tree. (Meditation / Power Boost) It's just a great profession. Devs did something right as they fixed it. And if its any indication of the potential they have, then we have some nice stuff coming in the combat profession balance. (And I think if you don't want to take TK as an example look how well they revamped Chef.)

If anyones noticed ever since Cities / Vehicles / Mounts went in. They've had so much time to address a lot of great stuff. And they arent shy to put a lot of stuff we talk about on next months table. Meaning, Publish 6 is already fleshed out and done but a lot of suggestions and ideas have been made since 6 went on Test. The devs have taken a *LOT* of them and said they should be done by Publish 7, while in the past we would get a "We'll look into it." I think vehicles/cities/and mounts really were a big load of stress for the Developers and we can all, (even Pikeman) expect some good development changes over the next few months. So please, stop nerf calling -- and have a little faith!

Actually, I only bought the game near the end of November, so that's been all of 2 months that I've been playing. I went for Teras Kasi the minute I logged into the game. I played it because I always play a monk-type class when I start a game.

Maybe next time you shouldn't try to read too deep into a post
