Just got permission to post this:

"The Ranged and Melee Mitigation levels do not stack. Two level ones does not equal level two. Only the highest one is in affect. Ranged and Melee Mitigation can both be in affect if you have both from different profession. They are not limited by weapon equiped.

Hopefully that clears everything up."

Thought you guys would like this info.

I'd like this why?

How about.. why do brawlers get MELEE mitigation and Toughness, not RANGED mitigation and Toughness? Wouldn't that make us better tanks....? I don't mind getting hit for like 20% of the original damage from a krayt before armor, but common sense should prevail.

Why do Commandos and BHs get MELEE mitigation instead of RANGED? Doesn't that make them using Heavy Weapon specials even more viable for 1- or 2-shotting brawlers? This game isn't about PvE, it's about GCW, and 1400 PvP damage while taking 40% less damage BEFORE armor isn't cool.

All opinions formed that were contributed in this post are from mitigation offerings to professions last time I checked TC. If those offerings changed, please disregard.

My guess is that commandos and BH's get melee mitigation because they have to be in melee range to use all of their hard-hitting specials... have to be less than 16m away from a target to use flamesingle/cone or lightningsingle/cone,

Just a conjecture.

Personally I think it makes more sense for brawlers to get melee mitigation because we have to be up there in the mob's face to do all our damage.

FYI, they just changed commando and BH mitigation to ranged.

Another tid bit:

One ongoing discussion had to do with how beneficial damage mitigation would really be for PvE, since creatures have such a tight range of damage they do. Keldarin had the following to say:

"We did adjust damage ranges when we put in the Damage Mitigation. It is only really effective for high level creatures though. You won't see any changes in damage ranges before level 30 but it does increase after that and the higher the level the greater the range. Very high level creatures will most likely not be able to be tanked at all without good damage mitigation."

Basically, really high level creatures will have a much greater range of damage they can do, and will therefore be much more effected by damage mitigation.

Not really sure why it would make sense for brawlers to get ranged mitigation. Seems to me that since brawlers train in close combat, they'd toughen up for close combat. Tell me more about what you're thinking here.
