Thread: Combo 1 Changes

Combo 1 now splits 90% of damage between Health and Mind. However, there is an interesting new pool wieghting going on that causes Combo 1 to hit Health more often than Mind, so over a series of attacks damage will balance out to 65% Health; 10% Action; 25% Mind.

This makes Combo 1 more effective than Body Hit in directed attacks to Health. In fact, Combo1 eeks out Leg Hit, and is second only toHead Hit, in directed pool damage over time.

At TKM with normal attacks and no VKs:

UAH2 averages 398 DPS to random pool with a base HAM cost of 42;
Body Hit averages 477 DPS to Health with a base HAM cost of 63;

UAH3 averages 530 DPS to random pool with a base HAM of 92;

Leg Hit averages 636 DPS to Action with a base HAM cost of 63;

Combo1 averages 646 DPS to Health with a base HAM cost of 52;

Head Hit averages 795 DPS to Mind with a base HAM cost of 71.

Combo 2 remains broken (since Beta, I might add).

Combo 2 is not broken, its the combat spam for it that is broken. It obviously says 1 damage point dealt, but look at your target's ham pool, it does a bunch more than 1 damage.

Right, I got called on that Combo2 thing in another thread. Do you happen to know all the features of Combo2? I test voraciously in PvE, which is why I didn't see any difference with Combo2 penetrating armor and defenses. I'll test it myself, but I want to be sure I know what I'm looking for.

That Combo2 error in reporting damage in Combat spam has been broken since Beta. I honestly have no idea when they changed Combo2 to penetrate defenses.

Live, Jenky.

I wouldn't have caught the Combo1 stuff except that the way I test kept showing much heavier damage to Health over a series of attacks. I test each skill against dozens of creatures in PvE, which is why I didn't see the Combo2 ability to bypass defenses and armor (to what degree I can't say until I get someone to test PvP with me, but I have high confidence in the people saying it does bypass defences).

Combo1 will be easy enough for you to test yourself. Spam some 1k-3k MOBs with Combo1 and watch how the Health almost always depletes much faster than Mind and Action. Come to think of it, I wonder if Combo1 also bypasses defences to some degree. As far as I'm concerned, Combo1 is the new BodyHit, and, overall, slightly excedes LegHit with directed pool damage.

Very helpful. I'll have to run some tests of my own on Combo 2, I'll report the results back in this thread when I get a chance (hopefully over this weekend).

I've read that since combo attacks are hitting multiple pools at once, that moves like dodge can only block damage to one pool at a time, thus getting around people with really high evasion skills. Is this true?

The only testing I have done recently with combo 1 vs combo2 was in pvp, against another tkm wearing no armor. I was primarily testing the ham cost compared to combo1. I didn't write down concrete numbers, but if I remember correctly combo 1 in my case cost me about 32 ham whereas combo 2 cost me about 46 ham, and the damage output was identical (the little floaty numbers over his head).

Combo 2 does damage to a target even if the target evades it. I do not know if only 2 out of 3 pools are hit, or all, but I think all 3 are hit. Haven't tested it though.
