Thread: A thought on Dizzy (KD isn't the problem)

I started a new thread in response to the "A thought on KD" because this is a new idea which might get better attention on it's own thread.

As we all know, KD\Posture Change*PLUS*Dizzy is a problem with all professions who have these moves, not just TK. We just happen to have a combo move. Big deal....they barely both stick in PVP.

Rather than mess with KD, let's focus on Dizzy. Dizzy is the problem. Dizzy is what keeps people on the ground.

I propose that Dizzy is put on a timer much like KD and Lunge as well as lessen the time that one can be in a dizzy state. With this implemented, the chances of sticking both moves becomes much harder and when they do both stick, it won't last as long.

I think this is a fair and programmatically simple solution.

I agree with what a couple of the guys above have said. You're suggesting there is a problem with dizzy because people who get KD/dizzied complain about being helpless for ten minutes. The solution is not in changing dizzy and screwing TKs out of our only useful tactic. The solution to making people not feel helpless for so long is by making it possible for tks to kill them quicker. If they feel helpless for 10 seconds instead of ten minutes, problem solved.

On the other hand, if you like being able to resist an elite combat profession's best hit for ten minutes, then damage output for every other profession needs to be nerfed. Personally, I feel the game has strayed too far from one shot kills to the point that it seems like we're all playing with cardboard swords and rubber band shooters. If the movies reflected the game, it would take the death star ten minutes of spamming "planet blast 3" to take out alderaan.

COMPOSITE ARMOR: Composite is a problem for all classes besidesones with stun weaponsso let's drop that argument. You have a lot of other points you can invest in order to pick up stun.I agree thatcomposite needs a little bit of adjustment. I have seen solutions like only allowing armor to have 3 resists at a time...etc. Dizzy and ArmorBOTH need to be addressed.

OTHER CLASSES: Remember, Dizzy plus posture change or kd is a trait of many classes. It would not just effect TK. You like being kited and then dizzy\kd'ed, shot to death (repeat, rinse, incap)? Feels good right?

ARAKO: "Or just drop the dizzy duration to 30 seconds or less." See the problem with this is that you can always just reapply the dizzy before it ends. Changing the duration wont help without a timer. Dizzy stacks.

CATCHING A KITER: We have another tool for catching kiters called Lunge 15-20m. This is on a seperate timer than KD. Lunge them/follow apply stats. If you use /follow, you will stick to them (watch out for obstacles). Remember to keep your VK's OFF during a kiting session. You lose A LOT of reach with vk's on and get out of range message. If you can't get close enough to do the above tactic, then run the opposite direction. When they start following you, burst run back at them.....Repeat above. In large scale pvp, kiting is not as much of a problem. Most people are stacking KD defenses anyways. You try to KD a stacker, you are going to die...plain and simple. Our class doesn't cost much anyways! Pick up a ranged class! You are severely limiting yourself if you are brawler only.

I don't agree with everyone that KD\Dizzy is our only useful tactic. If that is your only argument then you need to re-evalute the rest of the tools we have at our disposal. I have been a TK since launch and I have learned that there are a lot of methods you can kill someone without KD\Dizzying them.

I agree that it should be left alone. There are methods of defending against it, like anything else, things like profession defenses and skill tapes. One build I experimented with for instance had over 100 defense vs knockdown and almost 100 defense vs dizzy. Now try and dizzy/knockdown that character, it would be almost impossible. The ranged/melee defenses were really high too. It all really boils down to how you want to play your character, if you like your current build but tend to get kd/dizzy'ed all the time then start either buying skill tapes or change your character. For example, it only takes one line in Pistoleer to boost your defensesbig time.

Besides all this it is really not worth discussing until after the combat revamp. Nobody really knows for sure what all will be changed then so it may not be as big a problem after therevamp occurs. Who knows!

Or just drop the dizzy duration to 30 seconds or less.

Or just not do anything to it at all. If you do this ,then we will have no way of stopping kiters. TKA's are not strong against armor. Someone with 80% kinetic armor (a very cheap thing to get) and melee mitigation 3 ends up not even being damaged by us. Do you guys notice that unarmed hit 3 only does 120 damage after melee mitigation? Then there is armor and other defensive buffs. TKA is fine, it takes ten minutes to take out an armored person, KD/dizzy is all we have. Now let's drop the topic, because KD/dizzy is fine.

That was pretty childish. Not surprised though.

I agree with you. There are plenty of ways to defend yourself against kd\dizzy. I was just giving an alternative to the person who posted the "A thought on KD" thread and just giving an alternative to a potentially drastic change to the current system in the combat revamp.
