Thread: Is fighting with out armor dead in this patch?

Well, I've never used armor. I prefer to use pure damage output and speed as my stratagy. Now, however, I am finding that I'm getting punked by NPC's and animals very quickly. I am just getting rocked on any mission terminal I try. As far as I can tell, the only difference between myself and some others is armor use.

Is anyone else seeing this?

I have been working on TKA for the last few days and I haven had any problem.

I start with Dizzy then knockdown then Warcry then I pound them dead. I am only 2/1/1/4 right now so Im not fighting the nastiest mobs in the game but Mountain Dewbacks, Giant Womp rats, andBanthas all go down no problem. I have been doing it with no armor, no doc buffs and no Spices, althought I just got PowerUp and im using that.

Buffs > armour for PvE IMO.

I figure now is the time to ask. 1. is armor pointless without buffs. encumb(may sound dumb buy hey i gotta ask) this takes away from your health(i havent used any since the patch that gave the encum lvls so I dont know if it also changes ur health from like 900 to 600, or just lists -300 under encumb. I guess I still dont feel right(unless buffed I would guess) giving up so much health with a full set, so I take my chances more or less. Also i hate to clone and insure(if I get 300+ bf I get it taken care of and dont have anything expensive to decay, where as I know I would forget to insure armor 1/3 of the time I die, and a nice high kinetic would be gone in a week and I dont have the money. So I say just buff, but some people love armor and they know it better then me. I guess it depends on you and some other factors.

The best is buffs with armor that way you still regen fast even with the armor. If its a choice between the two I like buffs better. Armor without buffs means almost no regen so you have to watch your special useage were as with just buffs you regen fast and can spam specials longer.

it's most likely the result of this patch introducing step 1 of 4 in the new rebalancing of the combat system

TH posted about a week or so ago saying the first step is the NPC/creature balance, and that some fights would get much easier andsome would get much harder. it seems that NPCs now use specials like crazy, and try and get up constantly while KD/DIzzy.

Hmm i dunno i always run with full master buffs so i don't usually have a problem with anything in PVE without armor.I do keep a set of ubese on me tho for stuff like nightsisters and FS npc's, but if your fully buffed anything that is under AR2 shouldn't be a problem without armor.

Buffs + armor is awesome.

I'm actually thinking of going Doctor again....

I also like to go get some mind buffs from a musician when I can, and I always carry around some Muon Gold for "mind stim packs" when I find myself in a sticky situation. Pixies too when I need to heal right away or I'll end updead.

Crates of BreathOfHeavenare also GREAT to have for specials. Some 400+ to all the special cost stats? Something like that. We need more Master Chef's, heh.

So, what I'm reading is that you should either be doctor buffed or have armor (doctor buffs are better).

It wasn't that way for me before the patch. I did just fine with no armor, no buffs, and my VK's. I find it disappointing that now I have to wait at least 3 more patches for things to be put in order.

"Buffs + armor is awesome."

I second that, best of both world if you combine Drink food and spice for your mind.

I'm going to be a TKM/MRM. Armor is baaadddd. Even slight mind encumbrance boosts up my already huge mind costs for rifle shots. Fortunately my ranged def and melee def are both going to be around 200 so things won't hit me anyway.

I'm a Master TKA/ Master Doc, and have found that when buffed, there is no need for armor 80% of the time. I did however, make a macro that with one click instantly puts my entire armor suit on if I find a mob is doing some sort of ungodly damage to me that I know I wont be able to tank. I also keep a hit of muon gold on my hotbars up top to drop it on a dime if I'm in a pinch.

I have found that probably the most efficient way to hunt is to have macro's for equipping you're clothes, and a macro for equiping all you're armour, that way, you can fight longer, and when done, swap to clothes to regen...its akin to the whole 'unequip vibroblade for specials' bit....
