Thread: They call this balanced
Lets look at ranged weaponry
Pistol - weak but fast.
Carbine - medium
Rifle - Slow but Heavy hitter
Okay, now lets apply the same categories to melee
1H - fast but not the strongest
2H - Powerful
Polearm - Nice Damage and slow
TKA - pitiful damage
I understand that higher end TKA's can do well for themselve. I grip that. But to make the early leveling so horrible is unjust. My friend is a 1H swordsman. We both were at the expert level (I use unarmed) and he gets a vibroblade. His specials, which arent costing him much (and he gets dizzy), are doing 300-500 damage. My damage with specials is around 180. Based on this, he gets three to four times the experience points and can level that much quicker. Why the imbalance?
We were on tatooine and killed a bocatt. He gets 1300 exp and I got 267. Something seems amiss.
Not my point.
And you know that, you'd just rather post your simple push aside answers.
Considering you probably got up the TK ranks before having to worry about all the nerfs.
I like TK, I'm gonna stick with TK.
Here's my point (pay attention as not to miss it this time)
They came down on TKA's because they said they were overpowered (which in many regards they were) but perhaps they smacked TK on the head with a nerf bat a little harder than they should have.
If you still don't get it, have your parents read it to you, maybe they can draw you pictures.
Use ur low cost special moves often )
Yesterday I grouped with ppl in Dantooine. well Im a TKA master and dont need xp but I wanted my friend 2hander to hit a MASTER . so I tried not to get xp in a group.
Actually I just heald them and used lunge I only.
Mokks gave me 500 - 700 xp even though I spammed lunge while fight. U know how much dmg u can give with Lunge I )? - If I solo him I get 3000ish xp.
TKA sure do less dmg than other melees but u can use ur skill wisely. try this ))

Maybe I'm mistaken but they've never nerfed TKA damage (unless you're talking about beta or berserk). Only nerfs we've taken have been to knockdown.
The problem with TKAs is that progression isn't linear. At lowish skill levels things are genuinely tough. Get to master power though and things even out a lot. Currently a TKAs strength isn't in his specials but in his/her VK equipped auto-attacks.
Next patch we get a very big damage boost and our specials HAM costs are tweaked so I would say hang it out until then at least.
They didn't nerf the damage exactly, but with the Certification for the knucklers in place now, there are no options for the TKA. I have no problems with having a certification for reaching TKA. Its a long road, an advantage to the class is needed and deserved.
That being said, perhaps have level of knucklers w/ the vibro models being the high end TKA cert. Have other certs along the way for unarmed.
Honestly I think VK's should be removed. they are part of the reason for the KD nerf. Minus all the beotching about pistoleers spaming pistol defense. All you TKA's running around in full composite that had to use drugs and food just to get into, crying that you incap yourself or get incaped by a baby gnort after doing on move while VK's are equiped were also a big problem.
And before anyone says that doesnt happen, i have personally talked to many TKAs and non tkas who say thats only way they got in full armor and they also whine about not being to do special moves.(cant wait for school to start so there are a lot less of them).
on the VK subject, we are the master of unarmed combat, not metal knucklew/ a nifty blade combat. But one thing that I would like to see is that higher end TKA tree some type of + to AP with your fists.
Half of the reason we have such a problem with Ranged fighters is that their aiming is not working right. Pistoleer should only be able to shoot us from about 25m or less with any accuracy, but this is not the case. Carbineer is able to hit us at anything but extreme distance or closeup, which is more in line with the concept but is still too wide an accuracy range for a class that is supposed to be the Sub-Machine Gun class. And as both a TKA and a Rifleman I have to say. . . as a TKA I never fall to Rifleman and as a Rifleman I get OWNED by a TKA, because the accuracy modifiers on Rifleman are actually how they are supposed to be (you know, "gimped").
The problems are not with our class. The problems are with the few overpowered classes that are hosing the balance for the rest of us.
TKA's hit their max speed somewhere between Power2 and Power3...(1-hit per second).
The speed bonus at Power4 is wasted.
The speed bonus at Master is wasted.
Speed slicing on VK's is wasted.
Speed melee powerups are wasted.
In all other clasees...your speed would improve.
So right there are 4 areas where other classes can improve DOT...where TKA's are stuck 2 boxes into TKA.
Aden I do have 3 characters which include many professions such as:
Fencer, Carbineer, Pistoleer andUnarmed Brawler (working to TKA), and what you say about Pistoleers being over powered makes little sense to me, Pistoleers have random HAM dmg specials which while can get up to around 1200 with an above average weapon with usually a speed of 2 seconds per shot do not represent a significent threat in PvP vs other ranged professions.
Against melee professions you may have a point tho, a Pistoleer can shoot at a melee fighter until he gets close then when he does get close to melee range he can use meleedefense1 which has a Knockdown attached and in fact has a higher range than any melee profession attacks.
But compared to other ranged professions Ithink Pistoleer may be the worst now and Carbineer the best.
