Thread: Suggestions about adding a single ranged profession?
As of now I'm working on Teras Kasi Novice, and I've been reading issue after issue about melee combatants not standing a chance in PvP. So, I figured it might be useful to add one ranged profession to my character as well, something preferably that has a knockdown or something similar where I might be able to catch up to a purely ranged fighter, drop my weapon and begin the fist pounding.
Any thoughts on which ranged profession would be best? Or positive/negative comments about this idea?
No dice, eh?
I'm thinking Carbineer might be best after looking through the types of abilities you're granted, but I'd still love to hear from someone who has actually tried this route.
Its a shame that an elite profession such as Teras Kasi is now going to be made into sux arse secondary fighting skill complimentary to a ranged weapons fighting skill but it seems now that all melee professions will suffer the same fate as the TKAs. *sighs*
A now totally useless TK training expert TK,
DrBonzai.
If we wanna stand any chance against Expert BHs with Pistoleer master to go with it we're gonna have to go Master TKA/Pistoleer and then get Novice Smuggler and climb the way up dirty fighting.
I would sincerely hope so! Are you saying that a master TKA should stand a chance against someone whos pumped all his points in a combat profession (and almost purely pistol oriented one at that)?
In the words of the dev's themselves, if we catch them....

As said before: "If we catch them."
When we are at 35m we are at their mercy, when at 5m they should be at ours.Insanely Pistol Combatfocused or not, when within kissing distance melee should holda serious advantage.
Trouble being our means of closing that 30m are dissapearing quickly, and if at 5m we have no real advantage. Unless finally being able toreturn fire is considered an advantage....
But beyond this, I'mworking witha rifle. It's not terribly hard, and I develop few wounds... but it's gonna take a while.
After the new patch, I decided to go ranged to back up my TKM skills. I was just going to get pistol, but ended up a master marksman....lol. I am currently making progress up the commando tree. It really complements our profession well. KD a mob, then switch to your best hw, and the fight is pretty much over. Warning, to go this route leaves you with little skill points. I"m not going to keep commando forever, but its a nice change of pace for the moment.
