Thread: Baffled, Befuddled and Confused Concerning Power Boost

In a sleep deprived haze I accidentally picked up Advanced Meditative Techniques instead of Advanced Balance Conditioning a few days ago. I was a little put out at first but figured that Power Boost sounded pretty cool and might actually make up for the mistake. Boy was that a false hope. I try to kick it off and am told I have to be meditating to activate it... a little strange to me since this is clearly (from the description) a combat related skill, but okay. So I plop down into meditate with a non-aggro mob in relatively close proximity and fire it off... suddenly my ham bars increase and I'm thinking "COOL!" until I notice that my mind bar is half-filled with wounds... "hmm, that's kind of sketchy" I say to myself butdecide "okay that's the cost of being able to boost my stats by such a large amount". So I continue to meditate as I wait for my regeneration to catch up with the new stat ceiling. When it does, Istand up eager to give a nearby Torton what-for and.... it runs out?!?! We're talking about a total elapsed time of maybe 10 to 15 seconds between when I meditated to fire it off to the time when I approached the mob to engage it. I have half a bar of wounds and the stats returned to normal before I could even type /attack. Why in heaven's name would I ever use this?

Because the CS folks are here! And they will help us... right?

I found a use for it. Whenever aspiring TKs ask what meditate does I would fire it off to get wounds so that they could watch how meditation heals them. Only problem is,.. it stoped working. After using powerboost maybe 15ish times it can no longer be activated. I just get a message about "You can not boost your stats higher" or something like that. Anyone else notice this?

Seriously, has anyone actually found an effective way to make use ofthis? Or is it completely without worth?

I am sorry to say this...

But no, Power Boost is totally useless.

(Not unless you like giving the women in the cantinas something to do)

Yup. Used it once only actually - and now I get the exact same message:

"You are unable to raise your..."

Also, I agree with the original post-starter. Power Boost is utterly useless in its current incarnation.

Heh, can't say I ever subjected myself to power boost 15 times to see if it stopped working.

Yeah. It's clearly a broken skill. I'm pretty optomistic that it'll get fixed though. The devs are actually looking at TKAs right now, and it'd be pretty hard to miss Power Boost.

The only use I can find for it is if you are in a large group and you have a Doctor or a Combat Medic who can heal you instantly. Or if you yourself have the medical skills required. And even then it is a skill of very limited value.

But I'm willing to deal in trade-offs. They took away KnockDown because it needed to be nerfed. In exchange, we ought to ask them to un-nerf Power Boost so it does more than brutalize our mind pools.

Why would they change power boost, it's just as powerful as all the other TKA moves.

a buggy move that causes major damage to the user and has no actual beneficial effect. Don't use it unless you want to kill yourself.

Sounds like it's right in line with all te other TKA moves.
