this is a role playing game, play your roles as meleers! if you want to role play a ranged player go choose a ranged profession! I mean come on, anyone seen Indiana Jones? remember the scene with the swordsman? bang one shot done! deal with it this game is supposed to reflect at least some realism.
And what, pray tell, is our "role" as meleers? You're asking us to look at a Star Wars game with realism? First of all, it's a video game...those bend if not break the rules of reality all the time. Second, it's a fictional universe, it's fairly silly to assume that realism applies here. Third, it's a game based on a ficitonal universe based in movies (and books, and comics). None of these things on which SWG is based have very much to do with realism.
Do police and military types only train in firearms? How can a blast from a lazer cause ANYTHING to bleed? When was the last time you had to fight a gianormous rat that was trying to eat you...oh wait, NYC, right.
Your point is a good one, but not ultimately valid since not very much else about the game is in the slightest bit realistic. I mean, you only have to eat when you want a stat buff? Come on. Also, being realistic, if you get shot in the head - whether you are using a sword, fists, or a flamethrower - you are still just as out of that fight, and it only needs to happen once. People die very easily in real life...but that wouldn't make for very entertaining game-play.
So, please, before you open your mouth and make yourself look really stupid, think about what you are really saying. All melee classes want is that cinematic-realism afforded the ranged classes. I've seen tons of movies where people with only fists or a knife or something can overcome people with guns.
If you want realism, there's this thing called "outside". I hear there's stuff out there, and sometimes...just sometimes, things happen.
Most people play this game for fun and entertainment, I assume. Anyone who complains that melee needs to be more valid in PvP just wants to have more fun with their skills. Is that really so wrong?

Yeah I saw that and I saw the making of the film, they brought in a sword master to play that part... spent months getting ready for that scene....Due to time limits it was supposed to be a long drawn out sword vs whip fight instead they went with the Indy shoots him and walks away.. as a matter of fact they had to shoot the scene twice cause the first time the sword guy made it a 5 min death scene, he had to try and get his 5 minutes of fame I guess.....bet that guy felt as cheated as melee guys do
just got a couple of things to say...
burst run, unarmed lunge2, dizzy, your most powerful move spammed = ownage
I aint even TKm and i've beaten BHs, Commandos, and pretty much anyone using that combo. What i like to do is do unarmed hit2, then combo1, then combo while they are knocked down, and finish with a leg hit, try it, it looks AWESOME ![]()

I get it. The scene was filmed that way because Harrison Ford had explosive diarrhea that day.
