Do you still get the full Benefit From mitigation 3 if you do not have a unarmed weapon equipped, "Vk or bare fists". Like If i'm carrying around aFlamethrower or something doI still get the benefit ?. IF you do can doyou get benefit from Melee mitigation 3 in TKM, and Ranged mitigation 3 from commando ?. if you have any info please let me know. Thank you.

I have been wondering the same thing, doesn't say anything in the skills tab about it being weapon specific.

I *believe* that this is indeed weapon specific. I *Believe* this is their fix to prevent "Dabbling" (TK master with 1hand sword defense line, 2 hand sword defense line, pike defense line).

Dont take this as word of God. cause this is just speculations. HOWEVER, I did notice a decided differance to day. As in. I got hit alot more than usual. I am TKM and took up Rifleman *cause cron told me to*. Rifle gave me +40 Melee (Just for the defense line, may be a bit more) pushing me to 104 melee defense.

I think that the extra damage I was noticing this morning is becuase I no longer have the addtional bonus (TKM defense + Rifleman defense).

I am a TKA master and working to become Master Commando as well. I have noticed a huge difference in combat after the patch when equiping my flamethrower and I am fighting a melee opponent. Now, I wonder if this is because Commando has melee mitigation as well or if its taking my TKA mitigation and using that.

I didn't look very hard, but I thought commando had "Ranged" mitigation. Thats why i was wondering if they both work together. You can take less damagefrom ranged attacks and melee.

There are some FAQ's in the pistoleer board about that. One of the direct questions that Philosopher (pistoleer correspondent) was whether these were in affect all the time. The response from the devs is that it doesn't matter what weapon you have equipped it's always in affect. Meaning that for best survivabillity all of us should be heading for one ranged and one melee profession.
