Was just wondering since we have such an issuse being able to target creatures that run from us, if anyone has had any success using a /follow command to stay on target?

Although i have not tried it yet, was just brainstorming while at my job. I may give it a shot tonite to see if it could serve as a substitute for a /stick command.

Also, digging through the patch notes, I saw that they cut the follow range in half when you're following a combat target.

Definitely something to test out.

The main problem with the follow command is that it sets your velocity to the velocity of the person/thing you are following. This concept is pretty easy to visualize, imagine two cars sitting at a stop light. Car 1 accelerates to 60mph and continues down a straight away path, Car 2 waits for aproximately 3 min before it takes off and accelerates to 60mph. If both cars travel exactly at the same speed will car 2 ever catch up to car 1? The answer is no. This is exactly how things work in the game when you use the follow command....

What should be happening in this situation is that car 2 accelerates to it's maximum velocity of 100mph until it reaches the same location as car 1, then it decelerates to match car 1's velocity at 60mph once it's with in a specific range. Unfortunately it seems as though this issue is being ignored by the developers...ahh well.

Josfe....have you read the new patch notes. The follow distance has been cut in half. Have not tested it yet but that should mean we will stay within about 4ms of them. Plenty of space for us to hit up on them.

I field tested the idea last night. And it worked out decently. I found that i still had to run over to the target using conventional means, the mouse or num lock, once you are close the /follow kicks in and you are close enough to attack and stay on target.

Although i have not tried it in Pvp yet, in PvE i had a bit of frustration with Pekos that would try to fly away, it would put me on a long run. But at that point i would pull out a pistol and suppress the buggers.

Another place i found it usefull was well fighting in caves or when surrounded by many possible targets. These situtaions would usually make targeting and attacking with the mouse a bit difficult, were now simplified with the macro i used it with.

/follow;/pause 1;/attack

This cleared up my mouse hand for keyboard commands, chat and beverage drinking.

If you find that mini-macro useful, dont forget where you got it. It is now a vital part of my quick-slot arsenal.
