I find the AP1 is the only way to do any even barely noticable dmg to an armored oponent... as for PvE, i never use them.

VKs are most definitely *not* useless in PvP. In fact, they are pretty much required because 9 times out of 10 your opponent will be armored, so you need the light armor piercing on the VKs to avoid the AR level damage reduction.
What the post was probably talking about is that, even with VKs, against 80% or higher kinetic damage composite, the amount of damage we can do is so small that TKAs themselves are somewhat useless in PvP because, with buffs, we do such little damage that it is entirely possible the player could heal most of it as we hit them.

Useless? I think not...its actually a must to be sporting them well fighting...PVP and PVE wise. DPS is much greater, just run some test with a buddy an watch ur combat que with them equiped and unequiped.
It really depends on what type of damage ur looking to inflict...speed sliced vks at the novice level helps emensly...vs going bare handed putting u at urminimum skill level that u qualified for with no modifiers. At mastery levels, speed is not all that much of issue so TKM's like all other master combatprofessions hope for a higher damage slice on there weapons. U cant slice ur hands and make them faster or make them hit harder....but u can with VKs

Against 80% and using vk's to bypass the 50% armor reduction a TKM can still do 250+dps. The only problem you have is getting someone to stand still to dish out the damage. Thats accomplished by by laying a dizzy then a lunge1 that has a range of 25m and is not affected by any chef food. TKM can bypass any composite since your advanced hits do so much damage that even with the pvp and armor reductions the damage is still pretty good. Reaching the 1.0 speed cap early helps alot.

a) Since when did Lunge1 ever reach 25m? Its 15m...and has been since launch. Plus, it is a Brawler skill, so a fencer can lunge, a pikeman can lunge, and a swordsman can also lunge. In other words, ALL MELEERS ARE LUNGERS. In fact, Lunge-Dizzy, is one of the fencers', if not all fencers' favourite move, as is lunge-area attack for swordsmen.
All melee classes get Lunge1, and they all have a range of 15m. One exception is that a TKA sporting a VK has been limited to 10m. Whereas, it would be illogical for other classes to lunge without their weapons, hence they are not affected by this reduction in distance.
Any elite combat meleer with Master Brawler has Lunge 2, which has a range of 20m. Once again, there is a range penalty for TKA's armed with a VK down to less than 15m.
Search the boards, in the profession forums where lunge1 and 2 is discussed for the information and the official guides and FAQ's for the official lunge distances.
b) Before you start stating opinions about how much damage is done, please refer to the calculations done in this thread :

In PvP, most people walk around armored, and if they are capable of healing, your only logical solution is to hit their mind. That means you gotta use head hit which through armor and proper mind buffs and food...does little to no damage. That is the problem I had with TKA, against unarmored people...TKA owns
