Thread: Teras Kasi 1 Question Answered!

Here's the question:

All player run tests to this point have shown Defensive Acuity, and thusly CenterOfBeing, to provide little to no benefit when used. Are these two abilities working as intended, and if not, what is the future of these two abilities for TKAs.

And here's the answer:

Defensive Acuity and CenterOfBeing are working, but like the original intent for “tumbling”, changes in the game since those two abilities were put in the game have really caused them to be ineffective tools at the high end of combat. These are two very important melee considerations for the combat balance. A melee artist’s ability to defend him or herself in a galaxy that is focused on ranged combat is a tricky thing. We want it to make sense in that a melee artist has a solid role in combat party make-up and to give the melee artist the tools they need to survive when they aren’t part of a larger combat unit.

that's an awful answer - basically what they're saying is they're working as intended, which is, they don't do much, yet we really want you to understand we know you need more defense because those skills suck (thus they gave us sucky skills and called it a fix), however, we're not going to fix them. Wow, way to not answer the question, devs..

He didn't say anything specific to TKA and I don't think he understood that those things are inconclusive for TKA specifically. It's as if he was speaking to a generic "melee artist" profession.

Moxim, its actually a good answer for TKA. He said plainly: game mechanics have changed since the impelentation of Acuity and CoB, and these changes have made these abilities useless in high end combat. This mean they know its a problem. Yes, it working as intended right now but they acknowledge that it needs to change to give the "melee artist" a full role in SWG combat.

Basically, theyare workingBUTare no longer relevant, and so they will change it in the combat balance. Amen to that!

Definitely not the answer I think any of us wanted =/ Although, it is a better answer than some of the other combat professions got. O.o

In either case, thanky Texxie for at least submitting our question for us so we had one to answer(even if it was vague and rather meaningless).

Glad I could help. Wish it would've been a better answer with a more firm time-frame.

But, at least, this shows that they know it's a problem. DA, and CoB by extension, are currently working as originally intended. However, the game isn't still the same as originally intended. So, with the overall Combat Revamp, DA and CoB will get the fix that it desperately needs.

Hopefully we'll get you a Correspondent of your own soon who can focus on TK issues solely.

This, I think, is my main concern right now. We are basically blind at the moment, not knowing what direction to pursue or what may be coming, other than what you have graciously taken the time to share. Thanks vortexala!

And aye, the answer isn't great, but at least it was an answer and not "wait and see."

Not entirely. He did state that DA and COB were working as originally intended, and that changes have rendered them useless. That is an answer to the question. The fix is not going to happen until the combat balance, but that was something that was expected.
