Hey,

TKM was actually my first master, but Im dropping it for a little while to give the other brawler professions a go.

I am (and have been) capped at 900K unarmed XP, will I lose this when I drop TK novice (and possibly unarmed II to IV)

Loosing all that XP will not be worth it to me, so I'll have to look for some other skills to drop

Thanks

Slymenstra

ps: it goes without saying I want to know this with 100% certainty

pps:I WILL get my TKM back.. I like it too much to drop for ever...

Actually, U have lost all but about 350k xp allready. Use your novice tk against something and you will get the message "you have lost 650000 unarmed xp".

You cant have more then twice the next level xp at any time.

So, if you drop down till unarmed two, you will technically only have 30k unarmed xp.

ehe, seems it was a good idea not to use my TK skills at all since I dropped it,it's still at 900K ATM (but now I'm worried I still might lose it when I relearn my1stskill)

No, you won't lose your unarmed xp for givingup Novice TK or any of the unarmed boxes. What will happen is that it will just sit there all quiet like until you make the mistake of fighting something unarmed again. At this point if you have dropped Novice TK and back into the Unarmed section of the Brawler profession, the xp cap will kick in and you'll lose all the accumulated xp you accrued from your time as a TKM.

My advice to you is that if you drop the bulk of your unarmed skills and go with the other Brawler professions, make damn sure you don't attack anything while unarmed or wielding a set of VKs. Should you ever decide to return to TKM, all you would need to do is just start training the boxes up again until you ran out of xp.

Remember, the only thing that will make you lose stored xp over the cap is attacking something with a weapon matching said xp when you don't have the skills to support your banked xp. As long as you keep that in mind, you'll be golden.

No, you won't lose your excess xp when re-learning your first skill. Example:

You only dropped Novice TK and still have Unarmed 4, which still leaves you with 900k unarmed xp. You go and have your little jaunt with the other Brawler professions and have a grand old time. However, you decide to come back and kick ass old school style with hands and feet. You retrain Novice TK which eats up 125k of your 900k, leaving you with 775k unarmed xp. Now technically, your Unarmed XP cap should be only 250k, however the system won't care until you fight something unarmed. If you decide to go and fight something unarmed without spending the rest of your xp on other TK skills, *THEN* the system will kick in and shave off the excess xp above the 250k cap, effectively erasing 525k of unarmed xp.

You DO lose experience when you train your first skill. Sad but true.

Any time you lose or gain experience, your experience is checked against your current XP cap and adjusted if necessary.

This means that if you drop Novice TKA with a million bajillion XP stored, you keep your million bajillion UNTIL you retrain Novice TKA or fight something unarmed. Once you train Novice TKA (spending some XP), your XP will be adjusted to its new cap (which will be 250000 or so, I think). So you'll be able to train Novice and two 1st level skill boxes, but then you'll be at 0 unarmed XP, regardless of how much you had before.

I kept 0/0/0/3 Rifleman for a loooong time just so I could keep my 300k Combat XP. Just this last weekend I made Novice TKA, trained 0/0/0/3 TKA right away with my stored XP, and finally dropped all of Rifleman/Marksman. Whee!

No, you don't.

I've fallen for that trap only one time: When going from 0440 Commando to MBH.

At no time did I losea single point of xp due to retraining a skill box with similar xp requirements. The *only* time I lost xp was when after training LLC1 in BH, I lost my head and made the mistake of firing on a thug near Kaadara to try out my new toy. As soon as he was dead, lost 600k heavy weapons xp right off the bat. Had I kept my cool and just trained 0003 BH right off the bat, that wouldn't have happened.

When I dropped MBH for Swordsman (short time), I had no problem dropping my combat xp immediately into 0002 Swordsman (hadn't quite capped out just yet). I didn't lose a single point of xp just from retraining a new skill box with a similar xp type requirement.
