Thread: I defeated a 4,4,4,4 guardian soundly

Greetings everyone,

Keep hearing how Jedi are the strongest melee class, have to possibly differ on this. I am a master brawler / master TK / master Swordsman / and have strong medic skills.

Dueled a guild mate that is a 4444 guardian using my TK skills, I was fully med/ent buffed, had head / chest / hands / feet armored with average of 74% kinetic armor, also had COB on and was meditated as well. Foods were synthesteak - 2 brandys - thack as well. Never had to hit the spice.

From a freind of mines experience I knew that if I could keep them self healing that they would burn out there force powers fast, so I kept landing every state I could, intimidating every time he healed it, and would even switch to swords to land a bleed every now and then just for irritation sakes. Would then knock him down if he did not heal the states immediatly, pound on him till he stood with combos. This left him constantly using his force powers to heal states and bleeds, draining him fast. After a few short min I noticed that he was no longer healing his states, meaning his FP was drained. So, I just pounded on him with UH3 and cobo1 along with our KD2 when needed and kept all state effects on him and of course intimidate 2.

Kept him on his back for some time this way, he could not cause any real damage and eventually he dropped, I only stimmed 1 time I think (no more than that) and never hit spice and still had 2/3 left on my lowest bar.

As you can expect, this was depressing to my poor freind and he did not log on last night... Felt bad about that actually.

Honestly, he should beat me should he not? I should put up a good fight, but with a carefull fight I was able to defeat him pretty soundly and only had like 89 BF and no high wounds.

Anyhow, I'm sure the Combat balance will fix this, but right now you can't say they are undefeatable and those that claimed they saw 30 elite buffed players get dropped by a guardian were full of dog dirt, there is no way that every happened unless they were unmastered, unarmored and unbuffed, in which case I could drop 30 of them on a good day.

Shame to hear about your friend, but a well prepared fighter that knows, and is strong in their profession is almost always likely to win a straight up duel.

I'm no jedi expert, that being said, the unarmed toughness that you get as a TKmitigates a heck of a lot of the damage that a Jedi can do with their current kinetic attacks, taking into account your armor buffs food etc

If your friend has pvp'ed with his jedi for the same amount of time as you have spent on your template and practicing in pvp, I'm sure that he will start to learn the more effective attacks and states that he can apply to you instead of being more defensive and healing his own states

No profession or template in the game should be unbeatable.

You had a very good tactic, and he fell into the trick.

The thing here is that he probably underestimate you, as most of powerfull templated character would.

30 buffed and armored players could be defeated easily by a single guardian, if he knows what he do and they don't.

Same thing can happen with other template.

A guy I duelled saw I wasn't master TKA, so he removed his armor to play fair.

He was unbuffed.

If I still had my novice smuggler skill, I would have drop a boom droid and detonate it.

He would have been toasted in 1 shot.

Even with me not being a good PvPer with no elite combat prof and him with several combat prof mastered.

He had as most PvPer mind maxed and everything else low.
A BOOM droid does 1750 dmg in PvP without armor.
Simple math.
None of his stat is higher than the damage and none of his skill can counter the droid blast.

Tactics is more effective than template, and it always will.

Well, I think I know which duel that was, but not positive. But, your beating me does not have anything to do with this for do you know which template I was then? Was I master carbines / master sword? Master BH? Current template uncompleted? I duel to test my skills throughout my template creations. Was I fully buffed? Did I have entertainer mind buffs? What foods was I using? What armor? Armor at all? Which weapon, swords or VK? How long was I mastered at the skills I had? Ahh, too many questions, too many.

Fact is, I am not the most uber player for pvp, I'm well balanced mostly which is why I am swords and not fencer for pve. But, I still win most fights and can usually find a players weaknesses when given enough time.

TheJedi in question has beat me in the past (2 times I think), but this is the first time I have dueled him with this template and with my new found knowledge of how to drain there force powers. I have lost to other TK's and other players, but they may have lost to him because they did not use the same strategy as me, this was not me vs a TK but a Jedi and I used a plan designed for that.

Will just the mear change of making our armor vulnerable stop us from beating them? Great question, will have to duel him with no armor. Thing is, I kept him busy on his back and self healing for most of the fight, then he suffered with every state possible when his force was drained, he may have still lost for my ham bars were barely touched. Another intersting thing is, with CoB running, I actually was /counterattack - Dodge - evading him.

Anyhow, point is not how good I am, but that with proper technique, tools and skills you can beat them now, may not stay that way, but for now you can.

It is not hardnow to beat a 4444 guardian in duels, as fencer/swordsman do it all the time. Just go check their forums. But wait till they get lightsaber damage types which armor is vuln too. Then there will be no one killing jedi except other jedi.

Jedi suffer from the same thing weTKAsdo - single-damage-type. All of their stuff is currently Kinetic, so suffers from the same weaknesses that TKAs do. And, unfortunately, they can't pick up any other damage type, unlike non-Jedi who can also go for Fencer and Swordsman and other professions with more damage types.

So, fully buffed-spiced-whatevered people with high-kinetic armor can take them down, because all the Jedican do is kinetic damage. This will certainly change once they get "Lightsaber" damage, and armors become vulnerable or capped at X%.

This only proves that TKAs are closer in spirit to Jedi than most people think... at least for now...

Yea, with only kinetic damage at their disposal, the 4444 Jedi are pretty weak compared to what they shouldaccordingto star wars lore. I dueled one the other day that ended the duel to avoid getting incapped because his force pool was empty.wear em down and beat em up.

Bloodfin
Prolux Wolff (Master Doc / TKM) That's my template and I'm sticking to it.
