Thread: Newcomer to melee; please answer a few questions...
Right now Im " TKM/Fencer 4.4.4.0/mBrawler/Pikeman 0.0.4.0 " as combat profs. Some NPCs have a real hard time hitting me (using TKM) while others just hit right throu all the defences. In PvP Im refered to as a defstacker and can pretty much take anyone down or atleast KD them and leg it.
If your FS you should use swords as your main combat prof. They just hit alot harder then a TKM can. But they lack states and some defences. If your speedcapped with swords and use a PH youll be a deadly foe in PvP as well as PvE.
I recomend:
mSword/Fencer 4.4.4.0/TK 4.0.0.4/mBrawler and some medic or scout.
You get area and single KD and posture change down. You got a mindattack. You get good melee/ranged defences and you will be able to aggro almost anyone. You can outdamage most other professions if you must.
The problem in PvP will be ranged running away from you, but hiding behind houses will make them come to you usualy, and then you get them with the 22m lunge.
If your thinking "This guy says this template is good but then why hasnt he got it?". Well I like TK to much to drop it.

I too think Swordsman rocks and only keep TKM because I think it's so fun.
Aww I didnt even see I had put a 0 instead of 5.
And I also keep TKM because its so fun.

If I wanted to create an Uber all melee character, what would be an advisable template? I've looked in this forum for a possible answer, but the info seems a bit contradicting. As I understand it, the advantages/defences of a skill only apply when you are holding a weapon that that particular skill uses. So in other words, it is impossible to have uber defences since you cant hold all the weapons at the same time; yet I keep seeing these people who single handedly take care of any nasty that DWB has to offer them.
What template are they using?
If I create a template like TKM/Mswordsman/Mbrawler/fencer 3440, would I be almost impossible to hit? Which would be my main skill when I'm attacking?
I know that state defenses like defense vs. Dizzy etc. are stackable but how about melee defense and ranged defense? are they stackable too?

The template will depends on what u wanne do with your toon...mainly PvE or PvP....If u stick most of the times with PvE than u dont need very high denfense...havin some medic skills helps u more than "defense"...my last two templates where both defense-stackers...master fencer/sword/pistoleer 1043 and novice medic....master brawler/swords/tka 4304/fencer 0440 and medic 0040....had higher defense vs stats and good ranged and melee defense compared to my current build...but to be honest that helped me nothing while fighting high-end-mobs like nightsisters! got as much kd/dizzy as i get it now....got as much stun/blind as i get now....if u have a bunch of ns on u they will land the stats for sure...maybe not with the 1st or 2nd attack but for sure within the 3rd...i´m very happy with my currrent build....gives me planty of damage as a swordsman, can tank the hell as a tka and being able to heal myself with stims "d" or enhanced stims "e"....scout is nice while running up hills and even to make some cash cuz docs paying well for good meat!
