Thread: Need opinions about Tri-master template

Well after a weekend of not doing much in SWG & just reading books insted I've been trying to decide what to do as I'm geting a bit bored of TKM Swordsman & want a change. I've decided I'm probably going to go for the "Tri-master" template, for those that don't know it isTKM / Master Pistols/ Master Smuggler


ButI need some opinions on it, is it a fun template to be? It's oneI keep playing with the idea of doing but have never yet gone for it. So anyone with some experience on it can you answer a couple of questions for me?


What's the damage output on it like? I know most the pistoleer specials are broken but does this make a big differnce?


Is it a pain not having any medic or scout skills? This is probably my main question on it as if I do it I plan on mastering all 3 so no extra skill points left.


Oh & this is my most important question, as even if the damage output is bad & so on I might go for it anyway BUT... Is it fun?


I know the questions here are more related to smugler & pistoleer but I'm more looking for veiws from other TK's as I'm looking more for people who have the master TK in it & not just dabbling.


So yeah any help on this matter would be great.

It is alot of fun! I really like it but it will depend on what you want to do with the character. PvE wise, it's freakin sweet! There really isn't much you can't solo if you are smart about it. PvP wise though, it's not an 'uber' template. From a roleplaying perspective, you can't get much better than smuggler, even with the most recent nerf to our pull from crates.


Master TK was the last profession i got, mainly because i didn't think i'd like it that much. I don't usually enjoy the melee style of combat. TK is so good that any character i start from now on will get TK first. It's by far the most fun profession i've played yet.

it's great fun...and if you can get your hands on a decent geo and some other pistols it's pretty good in PvP too!


It took me a while, but all my PvP pistols are krayted now (try to get a good DX2 too)


You'll need at least 15+ in pistol speed tho (start out by wearing corsec gloves..pretty cheap and already +3)

1. Get Medic and/or Terrain Neg


2. Get more defenses


3. Add FS combat skills. (especially pistol speed, which will allow you to cap Last ditch with a 1.9 speed pistol.)

I forgot that you can add ranged speed with FS skills.

If you do that you're beyond smart.



I'm in a bit of a quandry though...I have TKM/MDoctor...I'll have to drop Master Something to actually get a good amount of FS skills.


I could drop scout, but I love TN...

Well first off MAster Smuggler doesnt smuggle anything so......no clue why you would want that boring profession Pistoleer/tka are great doh and somewhat fun

I enjoyed the template, but then again I wanted to be a Smuggler in the true sense of the word and not in the game mechanics, but that is an entirely different issue. Pistoleer isn't bad, provided you get pretty fast pistols or Skill Tapes / Armor Attachments. There are some useful specials, but a lot of them are rather pointless. I found myself defaulting to TK a lot unless I was in a group or just felt like using pistols for a bit.

The Smuggler Specials really make a difference though, and makes it more fun to play IMO.

It is a really fun tempate - Master Smuggler is fun for RP and feign death rocks, low blow and panic shot are the best pistol shots in the game.
Master Pistoleer - the defenses vs. stat attacks, Knock down rocks, plus without Pistoleer your Smuggler attacks will suck.
TKM - because you can tank and tank well, plus because you need unarmed fighting anyway to get Smuggler, you might as well.

Scout - don't need anymore because you have a vehicle or mount...right.
Medic - don't need with TKM because you can mediate to heal DOTs Bleeds and heal yourself.

those are the main reasons ppl do the triple threat template.

By the way using Feign Death at the right time makes you indestructable (PvE) and also in PvP but they are gonna grief you and black rot you if you use it then.
In PvE you just Feign Death at the right time and lay there and heal away, nothing can touch you....you will love it.

Thanks alot for all the help guys. I've deicded I will be taking it in a few weeks, as I'm going smuggler & might rollplay abit I'm gonna wait till I have my 2nd char slot.


So in just over 3 weeks I should be doing it, I'm gonna go tri-master & not just dabble in hope the revamp when it gets here brings something nice.


Untill then, guess I'm gonna have to start camping for some DE10 barrels ^_^
