It adds half of what your mind is to your stats. If you have 1000 mind, it will raise your stats 500. So, go see an ID and raise your mind up if you want a better powerboost.

In regards to that, would it be a smart idea to lower your Health and Action down to, say, 500, and then take the left over points and put it into your mind? Then you wouldn't have to worry so much about Entertainer buffs and could just hit the doc and go, right?

I was going to test that. I think if you added more points to your mind from action/health, when you powerboosted you'd have the same HAM as if you kept those points in health/action, but have way more mind.
Does that sound right?

i plan on making my mind (as Human) 1100 with 800 Focus and 900 Willpower. The leftover points will adjust my health and action to about 400-500 each (including secondaries) with a dancer/musician buff, the extra mind (you can take food as well remember to increase the mind) will be very nice indded.
If you do it right, you can have a mind poolof almost 4000 for a while
Power Boost that

To answer the myriad questions in this thread...
"my powerboost gives +325... im up to advanced meditative techniques... does it get better at all? if not, that sucks"
Either your mind pool is only 650, or you have a lot of wounds. The powerboost ability adds half your mind pool, minus wounds. Buffs or other mind enhancements do not affect it.
"In regards to that, would it be a smart idea to lower your Health and Action down to, say, 500, and then take the left over points and put it into your mind?"
Most TKAs have much smaller health and action pools than mind pools for that very reason.
Then again, because doctor buffs are so common and entertainer buffs are such a pain, most people do that anyways.
"I was going to test that. I think if you added more points to your mind from action/health, when you powerboosted you'd have the same HAM as if you kept those points in health/action, but have way more mind."
Yes.
Let's say your Health is 800, Action is 800, and Mind is 600.
After powerboost, your HAM is:
1100 Health
1100 Action
900 Mind
If you took 200 away from Health and 200 from Action and gave 400 to Mind, your stats would be 600 Health, 600 Action, 1000 Mind.
After powerboost, your HAM would be:
1100 Health
1100 Action
1500 Mind
The moral of the story is that a TKA with powerboost should always max their Mind score.
"If you do it right, you can have a mind pool of almost 4000 for a while"
A master dancer can double your mind. So if you take two 400 point brandy drinks, a master dancer buff, and a powerboost with 1100 Mind your total would be:
1100 + 1100 dancer buff + 800 brandy + 550 powerboost = 3550 Mind
Imagine a mon calamari with a Mind of 1300.
1300 + 1300 + 800 + 650 = 4050 Mind
You can also take Muon Gold and add another 500 points to that for 10 minutes.

Power boost only takes into account your base mind. Spices, buffs, and food will have no impact whatsoever.

Muon Gold does increase the powerboost amount, I'm pretty sure of it. Max your mind stats, get buffs, then take a Muon and powerboost... you will have incredible HAM stats for a while. Although when that Muon downer kicks in, you will be hurting on the Mind side of things. I've had over 4k HAM before when I tried this, but the Muon downers were too much trouble.
As far as lowering your health/action for high mind... I'd lower your secondaries for health and action before lowering health and action themselves. I tried an ID with maxed secondaries and max mind for a while, and without buffs you are totally worthless. So I changed to Min health/action secondaries, max mind and secondaries, then split the rest between health and action. (850 each I think) That one seems to work well for me, as I can get by just fine without buffs if I have the right foods and/or spies on me. Kind of tricky without medic, but it can be done as long as you don't pick on more than you can handle.

Muon does not increase powerboost, its half your mind regardless of dancer buffs, muon or brandy...half your original mind stat that is.

Ok, so I was wrong. I still stand by my statement that lowering your health and action to 500 is not a very wise decision. If you want to cut something, cut the health/action secondaries. You won't be able to use many specials unbuffed anyway, and buffed they will be high enough it will not matter.

That makes no sense. Why not lower health and action? They go back up again with powerboost, and powerboost is easy to maintain.
