I've been a master Doctor for quite some time and also a dancer. I've recently decided to give combat a go specifically participating in PvP with my PA. I very ignorant as to what makes a good TKM PvPer and would love some advice. THings I'd like to have answered are:

1. What armor if any should I be using?

2. What foods and drinks do I need to have handy?

3. What basic tactics should I be using?

Thanks in advance for any help your veteran TKM's can give me.

At the moment Composite is pretty much the armor of choice, and add in a PSG with Stun Protection.

Food and Drink will vary depending on what you feel most important in battle. I generally keep Brandy, Ahrisa, Synthsteak, and Burnout Sauce available, as well as a Muon and a Pixie in case there is a last second crunch.

Intimidate and Stun are your best friends. Get them to stick and you can proceed to KD and Dizzy your opponent pretty well. Each of the state attacks is useful, but I personally have found no need for much more than intimidate and stun in a typical encounter. Not to say they are not useful, I just don't use them as much

I pretty much agree with Ryutek, but don't forget your doctor items!!!

These are going to be more important to you and your guild if you're in pvp encounters, I have a toolbar set up just for my Doc/TK role. This is all dependent on if your guild has more than 1 doctor that travels with you. In my guild, I am the only doctor that has the skills to stay with the rest of the hunting group, the others are crafting, or have other support roles.

This is my checklist for a Doc/Teras Kasi template:

Wound packs - not as necessary, as these need a droid, and some down time to apply

Good stim C's or E's depending on the situation, I have some very good C's that can apply to most situations, and E's for emergency usage

Rez Kits- goes without saying, if you're grouped and in Pvp, you'll need them at some point

Havla - so I can buff as fast as possible and get everyone back in the fight quickly

Bivoli - optional in PvP encounters, will raise the buff strength, but most of the time, the emphasis is on getting back in combat asap.

Poison + Disease cures (standard and area)- goes without saying, Combat medics are still VERY dangerous in PvP

Poison + Disease resistance buffs - goes along with the standard HAM buffs as added protection.

I also have my /drag command on my toolbar, my macro for applying states and UH3, a COB macro, my VK, and my brandy/ahrisa

hope this helps, if you need more info, there are plenty of other Teras Kasi Masters/Doctors that regularly post here.

foodlist:

brandy (goodBE stuff,go for one long enough that you can take two then two more just before the first wear out)

canape (for battles you expect to be short or a quick save)

ahrisa (for any pve and long pvp encounters)

exo-protein wafers (great to get added resistance without much filling) synth steak = full...full = dead

thakitillo (REALLY needed for some pvp encounters, but those are rare, the ones where you are kded over and over)

havla (great for getting a pvp team back together fast)

bivoli....

muon gold (ignore people who say they dont use drugs and take an advantage over them...warning: only use in dire emergencies as after ten minutes you lose)

As for armor i reccoment at least light stun protection (11%) but medium and heavy are fine (24%-36%) along with either good sliced eff or 80% ken comp (the 11%stun 80% ken). basic stun protection on comp will save you from many things including fencers....and well fencers. Any pistoleer who has a good pistol will still be tough to deal with as well as rifleman (PSGs help with rifleman but tend to die extremely fast).

Doc supplies are very usefull but i dont really reccomend ever using a dizzy state heal on yourself, rather only use them on other team members who need to get up or they will die. Intimidate heals however give you a huge advantage. Keep TONS upon TONS of heals in crates...running out is very bad.

Lastly INTIMIDATE!!!! it is more important that anything else you can do as it lowers their def and about halves their damage to others. Kd dizzy is good but not great as many people are def stackers. UH3 and headhit 1 are your major moves, LASTY! and only second to intimidate, if what you are doing isnt working, try something else before you die. DONT keep attacking when you lose more mind than they do.

I use spice ALL the time, get a chef to make you some BE'd Smugglers delight...And watch your muon downer leave your body in less then 10 seconds!

I'd also say max stun on helmet/chest, 10% on the rest (in case of full armor), if you only wear helmel/chest/gloves/boots I'd say max stun on them all.

Also, get dodge food (pikkata pie, air cake), accuracy food (citrus snow cake), both muon AND pixie, canape/arisha/brandy of course, parwan 90% (burstrun) vercupti, synth and exo cakes, thakillo, ithorian mist....mm that's all I can think of atm

Thanks for all the good advice but I'm too the point of dropping TK. It seems all but useless in pvp, it's nice for pve but that's it. Everyone uses good kinetic against me, plus they have nice weapons that poison and such. Not sure what the point of tka in pvp is but we basically do zero damage.

Any ideas how I can get a good Vk? Maybe something that adds poison or whatever?

Its relatively good in PvP. Just stick to it - getting into PvP takes time.Poison? You're a Doc right? Cure it. The thing is - TKA does tiny damage in PvP, but so does other professions. See that Fencer hittnig you for 200 through your armour?

40% resist stun makes it down to 120, 44% Synthsteak, makes it down to about 50, add in the PSG and you'll do equal damage.

Throw in Rakirian for a nice boost, and then you'll prbably outdamage him. Only DoT VK's are from high level loots, then good luck getting a decent one.

Something you should know - don't bother going into PvP - until you have the best of the best stuff. Without good comp, a good PSG, good food, good buffs, and a good weapon, you'll probably get smashed. PvP is endgame.

I hear you Kyodor, I had a few more pvp experiences since I postes originally and with a good Imp PSG I seemed to hold my own. I still have trouble versus pike or swords defence stackers. Being a doc is nice but it east up my skill points so that I can't take another combat profession and get so good defence. As far as curing poisons goes, it's ok versus a combat medic, but if the swordsperson or pikesperson has a poison weapon, they will land poisons faster than I can cure. Anyway, thanks all for the grat advice, I decided to keep tka for a bit longer and see what happens. =)

To be honest, the way I see TKM in PvP is as a support class. For a long time I was TKM/3/3/3 Medic, and I found that in PvP battles, TKM is great for sneaking around, applying states, KDing people, attacking opponenets weakness at close quarters while they fire at someone (we can, after all, hit every pool) etc. In duels, things do get tougher..the biggest problem for me is that armour, and the kinetic damage resists. But, if you follow advice like Ryutek gave, which is excellent, you should be fine. Most of all, I reccomend PvPing as much as possible - preferably duelling. Just like in RL martial arts, the key to getting better at fighting is to fight more.

what server are you on Gloria? and while TKM on TKM/melee def stackersduels may not be fun to watch... TKM does hold its own. If you want a purely PvP related template... drop doc pick up master rifle, get +6 rifle speed in attachments and some acc attachments, get novice medic 1-0-0-0, scout 1-0-0-0 and go crush people with your uber template but get used to waiting in lines for buffs. Just saying TKM / Master doc isnt for players who want to be uber..perhaps good but not uber.

1. stun layered composite armor helmet, gloves, chest piece, and boots ALL sliced for effectiveness.

2. v brandy, synthsteak, and canape or ahrisa if you can't get mind buffs. also, if you are fighting a fencer, accuracy food is also good. and now that i think about it, some thakatillo for KD defense would be good since you don't have any stacked defenses.

3. again, it depends on who you are fighting. TK/Doc in a large scale pvp battle is going to be relegated toa support rolefor the most part since our damage output is so low against the rampant 70-90% kinetic composite that all good pvpers wear. in this situation, drop intimidates, try to apply stun and dizzy as much as possible, and try to dizzy/kd everything you see so a rifleman or jedi can clean up.

In a duel, I start by dropping all four states that we have (intimidate, blind, dizzy, stun) and go from there. DO NOT spam UAhit3 and expect to be any good. you should have a good heal macro, one that clears the combat queue and does a warcry so you can heal damage, states, and poison. the only profession that gives me any problems is rifleman. headhit is the tool i use most often unless i am lucky enough to be fighting someone who does not have any medic skills. sorry if i left anything out, but that's the basics

THis is all really great advice and I want to thank you for taking the time to help me. I don't mind being relegated to a support role at all, that's why I took doctor in the first place. I think I was just hood winked in a sense. TK's do so well against a lot of monsters, inus the really tough stuff with super high kinetic that I just figured I'd grind up players in pvp. Oh how I was wrong. haha

I used to be a Combat Medic 4-0-0-4 and some pistoleer and had a blast in PvP, I miss those days.

Anyway, thanks again for all the great advice and taking the time to help, I really apreciate it.
