I want to get a few of the TKA boxes to help with defense. If I have enough skill points to get 6 boxes in the TKA line, which should I take?

I was thinking on going 0/2/0/4 or 0/3/0/3.

Any thoughts?

Honestly, it depends if you are mostly PVE or PVP, and even then Id probably still go 0303, the defense vs KD and dizzy and Posture down pretty much tips the scales...that is essential for PVP, and pretty good for PVE and those nasty ERs and new special using NPCs Also you get some more combat equilibrium which is handy.

so, Id go 0303...but in the end nothing beats TKM

I'd have to agree completely with LordMaxx. One other thing, though, what is the rest of your template? Depending on what other skills you have there might be a more viable option.

TKA is not exactly the defence proffecion, we have a a tree called balance techniques, that give an amazing +5 defence VS dizzy, and +20 defence VS knockdown. your much better off movign to another proffection for defences

Do not drop CH if you enjoy it! NEVER drop a profession you enjoy! The most important thing in this game is to have fun, and if you are enjoying a profession then that is the best profession for you.

If ALL you want is defense, then TK is not for you. Take fencer instead. Fencers have some great defenses, and best of all, with fencer you can cap out the dodge ability that you get!

First off, you do not have very much room to work with. As it stands, your skills are already maxed out. You'd need to give up some skills to get what you were suggesting (the 6 boxes of TK). So if you want more you need to decide what to give up.

Assuming you keep all your CH, Pistoleer, and Medic skills, you have enough to take an entire branch of the fencer tree. There are 3 branches that provide defenses. I'll examine what each will do for you.

Stances and Grips: If you take this branch, you will end up with Dodge at +120 (5 points below the cap). Melee Defense will be +114, not bad, and Ranged Defense will be +76. This route will be best if you want to simply be hit less in combat, and it's probably your best choice for PvE.

Footwork: If you take this branch, your Dodge will go up to +135, 10 points above the cap, not much of a waste. Your Defense vs KD will go up to +100, and Defense vs Posture Change will go up to +70. A good choice for PvP, but in PvE not many enemies will be trying to knock you down so this probably isn't for you.

Fencing Technique: If you take this branch, your Dodge will be at +180, a huge waste in my opinion. You will get defenses to blind, dizzy, and intimidate, and will end up with +80/+80/+20 respectively. Not bad, since creatures and NPCs do try to perform those states on you, so this isn't too bad of a choice for PvE.

Personally, I'd go with Master Stances and Grips, but it's up to you.

I have to agree with Atama, if you are looking for defenses to supplement your pistol skills, go up the fencer tree instead. The high defenses vs states and a little extra dodge is always good. If you really like TKA, then you might want to consider taking master in it and dropping some of the pistol skills instead, keeping the 0040 line for it's great state defenses. That way you could even use the taunt to keep some pressure off of you pets should they be low on HAM. A TKM with good state defenses and good armor is about the best tank in the game right now.

In the end, it'sstilla matter of what you really have fun with.

I thought the NGE couldn't be any worse than the CU, but I was wrong.

My stats currently are:

Master Pistoleer

0/1/0/2 TKA

4/4/1/1 CH

2/0/0/0 Medic

I know that I should drop my CH sincethe class sucksnowand use those points for a better class, but I love my pets and cant bring myself to do it. Besides, I spend 80% of my time PVE anyways. Thanks for the suggestions.
