I am a Master SMuggler and Master Pistoleer. I am working on Mastering TKA. I noticed that while grinding tka I hardley ever dodged. NOt like when I grininded Pistoleer using similar methdos. When I use my pistol I dodge alot more. I have 105 dodge, mostley from pistoleer skills.

What I did was I let about 4 quenkers beat on me while I was buffed and watched how often I dodge or evaded as the combat message says. When I equiped my vibro knuckless I hardley ever dodged. I would equip my pistol and I would dodge ablot more then with the vibro knuckles.

The only concusion I could draw is that defensive skills, atleast dodge depends on what weapon your using and where the mods are achived. Kinda like with offensive skills and conning a npc. Hope this makes sense, too much caffine makes it hard to explain yourself sometimes. Any thoughts would be helpfull. Oris this common knowledge and I am just figuring it out?

So how does it work for people that are doing more than one melee profession? I see many templates that utilize defensive mods from other melee professions, such as master tka and swordsmen 0/0/4/0. Do defense vs whatever stack with other ones? If it works like dodge does for me, whats the point of doing more than one melee profession? From seeing these templates, it seems like those mods would effect you no matter which weapon you use or then their would be no point to get those skills from other professions.

Defensive mods and melee/ranged def mods stack just fine so Melee Def from TK will stack with Melee Def from any other branch and vice versa. The Dodge, Block, Counterattack mods only work when your holding a weapon that is tied into that skill. Dodge is 1 hand and pistols, Block is rifles and pike weapons, Counter is Carbine and Hvy Swords. TK is unique in the fact that our Def Acuity stacks with nothing and is a seperate entity all its own, that in a way hurts us I think b/c where as Fencer/Hvy Swords/Pike have a chance to do there def move we have to roll a random for all 3 so ours I think comes out firing off less. That being said I am not even sure if our Def Acuity / COB is working as intended yet or not but anyway theres your explanation.

You can occasionally have some type of active defense (dodge, counter, block) with TK. I believe that is granted with Defensive Acuity. But the others are quite right, those defenses are weapon specific. But the occurence of a dodge, counter, or block with TK is quiterare in my experience.

Compared to my pikeman block Idodge/counterattack/block half as much, if they ever fix this TK's full power will finally show (and I think it'll be rediculously powerful).

Defense Acuity gives a chance to dodge, counterattack, or block. But it works less than real dodge/counterattack/block. It uses the defensive acuity skill mod and ignores the dodge/counterattack/block skill mods.
