Thread: Problems with Spin Attack 2 and a VK (Bug?)

Ok, 1st off Im a master TKA and I noticed this while farming Xp in the Rancor Valley. With a VK I tried to use the spin attack 2 move on about 4 Enraged Rancors. The Primary target was taking damage but the rest were not. All 4 Rancors were aggro'd on me and hitting me as well but none, save the primary, of them were taking damage from me. So I put the VK away and Blamo! All were taking damage!Does the VK have a shorter range with spin attack 2 (Bug)? Or is there a problem withthe Z hight of larger creatures?

I put the vk back on and moved the attcking group of Enraged Rancors to the side of a hill and I was able to hit a few others than the primary.

I triedattakingotherRancors such as the Young Rancors and I had no problems at all. Spin attack 2 worked just fine on all of them. Seems the smaller rancors have no issues.

Im guessing there is an issue with range somewhere in the VK code.

I also had the same problem on dant. Sometimes it works, sometimes not

Sometimes large creatures won't all be in your attack radius do to their size and the way their distance is computed. I've had this problem while spin attacking rancors too. Also, if you try to shoot a krayt dragon, it can be at 55m and be out of range or can be at 70m+ and still be in range.

I have noticed this doing pickets on dant, seems like they are out of range, they can still attack me tho.

It seems to be caused by the fact every weapon in the game now has a line of sight attribute. If you don't have a line of sight to your target then you cannot attack it.

When you remove the VK then you are unarmed and so the line of sight code does not seem to get fired. The reason you don't get line of sight to the creature could be due to the terrain on dathomir or the creatures all overlapping eachother (as is often the case when surrounded by rancor).

I could easily be wrong though.

I haven't noticed this, but I only use spinattack1. Spinattack2 seems to cost too much ham for the small increase in damage. I'll try it on the Gorath server and see if I have the same problems. All my recent bugs have been happening while on Dant, so the planet may be the problem.

This has been a brawler problem for a very long time... it has to do with first of all, server lag, as was mentioned, but also how the game calculates your distance from the creature's wireframe.

As an example: Wayyy back in the day before buffs were widely used and before most people wore uber comp suits, I would go out fambaa hunting with my buddies on naboo. I found fambaas to be a pain in the butt because they would always relocate themselves to 9m away. At that distance they could attack me, because they attack with a point on their head, but I couldn't attack them, because my attack was "focused" at the centerpoint of their body, and sice they are really really big... problems ensued. A few patches ago they re-worked the wireframes on creatures, so that at least the one you have targeted gets its frame re-calculated or something so that you can hit it as a melee. But as most everyone who actually plays the game knows... not just runs about being uber... most AoE attacks have problems. Ask any commando

It used to be much worse... wayyyy back in the day, melee's couldn't hit a darned thing because we were capped at 3m and with server lag having a margin of error around 5m there were times we couldn't hit a durni hpooing around in pursuit of a burretfly, let alone a kiting pistoleer. Thigns have gotten *snort* better since then *snicker* so be thankful.

When leveling TK I had this problem with Crystal Snakes...since they are so long I assumed the distance calc was messing things up.

This has allways been a problem on Rancors. I allways figured it to be there size. If I have 5 rancors on my I cant use spin 2 but if I have 5 Kams on me it works just fine. Also seen it with other large creaturs. The distance calc is not figured from where you are on a area attack but is figured from the creature you have targeted. This is why I allways figured it to be there size.

Yup, notice this a lot when killing rancors. It's just the large mobs that have this problem, small ones that can croud around you like hurtons and quenkers you can hit as many as there are attacking you.

I thought the NGE couldn't be any worse than the CU, but I was wrong.
