Thread: ran across a Force Crystal Hunter...

Earlier this evening I was on Dantooine trying to level up in Rifleman when I happened on a Force Crystal Hunter. He conned red with my Rifle equipped. Not much of a surprise as I am only 2001 in Rifleman at the moment. I jumped off my Swoop and unequipped my rifle…still red. Hhhmmmm.
I examined him. 80% resist to all and 25k HAM. I was fully buffed and I was carrying my 75% kenetic Ubese, not to mention I was getting tired of rifles (I am sooo bad at rifleman), so this looked like fun.
I popped another brandy and a Canape and charged in, VKs in hand. Much to my dismay my first 6 /unarmedhit3 did just about nothing to him. I was trying to rethink my strategy and lay some states on him. You know the usual, intimidate, stun, blind, but he was not cooperating AT ALL. The states would not stick. To make matters worse a STUPID Hurton Matron had aggroed me and was nipping at my heels while I was trying to figure out how I was going to bring this Goliath down.
I noticed a large group of Stormtroopers not far away. You know the little squads they added when they added the Imperial crack pipe…errr crack down. I am a Rebel, but know from experience that if a MOB like a Hurton is aggroing ANY player character, Stormtroopers will jump in and help kill the MOB. I just wanted to get rid of the Hurton so I brought us in range of the Troopers so they could kill it off for me.
Join in the fight they did. They started beating on the Hurton as I had expected, but MY DUMB ARSE could not leave well enough alone. I thought I would help by hitting my /UnarmedSpinAttack2 hotbar button…an AREA attack. Yep, you guessed it. Now I was not only fighting the Force Crystal Hunter and the Hurton, but I was fighting the ENITER crack-down squad. STUPID, DOTTERING, CLUMSY, FOOLISH….GGGGGRRRRRRRRR!
At some point in time it became a free-for-all. I wish I had taken a screen shot for you all. Everyone was trying to kill everyone else…it was kind of funny actually. At any rate, with both the Force Crystal Hunter and myself spamming area attacks, soon enough it was just the two of us standing. Something akin to the WWE’s Royal Rumble I guess.
After another 10 minutes of states, KDs (I could NOT get dizzy to stick no matter HOW HARD I tried) and hit2 / hit3 combos, he finally died.

How the hell do you get a huurton matron to aggro you if its passive?

hurtoon matrons arent passive, they're aggressive

Heh. Yeah, I had to kill one of thoselast nighttoo. A friend asked me to help him with hisrebel jedi templemission, so I agreed and met him at the cave. He gets his mission, and tells me to kill the one he attacks. So he attacks the force crystal hunter, and I figure I can just draw the agro and killit while my friend kills the rest.
WRONG. He gets DB'ed in about 20 seconds, then therest of the "Evil" guys turn turn to me. I notice my health is down to 1/5th, so I decide to make a break for it while using my 2000 med skils like mad. Finally made it to a place where only 1 of the other "evil" guys was attacking me at the same time, so I made sure to keep intimidate on the crystal hunter while I killed his cronie. Then I notice I have three hurtons chomping on me at the same time. Knowing they wouldn't do much I turned attention back to the FCH, managed to KD him a few times but no states would stick other than Intimidate.
The FCH ends up using area attacks, drawing all of the aggro away from me to himself. Which in turn gave me enough time to fix myself up and stop the bleed. He killed the hurtons just as I was ready to engage again. Ended up just beating him to death with UH3, it started doing a lot more damage near the end of the fight. I had taken dark adepts solo before, so I knew I could take this guy... just didn't figure he'd have more help than I did.
Finished the FCH off, then the rest of the evil guys. Looted them all, ended up with about 1k credits total and a locked container. Opened the locked container (I'm a smuggler too), only to find a reinforced combat staff. Go back to the cave to find my friend, who's telling me he got a holocron (which is prettymuch worthless now anyway)out of me killing them all.
All of this happened just in time to get the dreaded "Please find a safe place to log out, you have 15 minutes remaining until server shutdown." Ahh well, it was fun anyway.

See, that's a great reason to join the Empire. had it been me, the Storm troopers would have killed the hurton, and attacked the Force Crystal Hunter.

you are correct.
perhaps it was a hurton huntress
or a hurton howler
or a hurton stalker
most likely a huntress
never the less, be it my after shave that bothered her, or the fact that i was wearing white after Labor Day i know not. all i know is i was agroed by a Hurton and i wanted to get rid of her quickly

Reminds me of when I was doing pistoleer. I had just aqquired Fan Shot (FS), and it was time to do some hunting on Dant for those XP. The usual Quenkers (poor beasts) was the target, so get a couple of missions and then off. Being smart enough I had read about FS: "20 degree arch, hits everything, run away while shooting", simple, anyone should be able to do that. So about the first Quenker nest, I notice another nest rather close behind, now if I had been as smart as I like to think, I would just have speeded to the other side, but darn, I really wanted to get that FS going, nothing like the new power skill in a given profession.
Reciting inside "shoot, get aggroed, run away", a bit of sense was left, running straight away wouldn't cut it, that would lead me right into the Vormitor (those lizard thingies) nest behind, most likely getting me poisoned and killed. Heck, I can control the shooting, just watch head towards the Quenker nest, no biggie. Oh how wrong I was. Having the Fencer dodge line at the time, you dodge attacks with a pistol too, a lot of attacks, incidentally these dodges also makes you change direction, so after initially getting surrounded, it didn't take long for those blasted quenkers to "dodge turn me", and I ended up giving the vormitor nest a few head-on shots. Next thing I remember was a bright light, most will know it as the cloning facility...
