I'm a teras kasi, if I wear the personal shield generator, will my teras kasi innate armor cancel?

I use an Imperial Prototype PSG and it seems to be functioning very well. Most people I've talked to seem to think it only blocking energy based damage makes it of limited use but i've noticed a significant difference in my survivability against energy based weapons.

dont psgs only block ranged energy damage, or is it melee energy damage?

Ranged I believe, but I haven't had a chance to test it out all that much. Still i'm fairly certain it's just ranged.
