Why is it suggested that I toss my VK's in the trash now that I am a TKA Master? Not sure I understand this Any explaination would be greatly appreciated

Because you usually fare better spamming specials unarmed than using VKs at TKM. Although this is true for a certain set of tactics, not for every one. It works for me though - I am used to spam specials, and only grab the VKs when I am up against a hard target, or need to really conserve HAM.

They may have suggested that your speed sliced VKs go in the trash. Anyone suggesting you throw your VKs away at master never fights armored opponents :-)

Macabre hit it. You'll need a good damage-sliced VK for armored opponents. At master, there's no reason to have anything speed sliced. Many people choose to go without VKs against unarmored opponents because of the lower HAM costs.

It's been a while since I sang their praises, but consider looted knucklers if you are going to throw away your current pair. They have a massively reduced HAM cost and will give you AR 1 with a slight increase in damage.

Try them and see if they aren't a good compromise.

Veering a little from the thread topic, but not too far I hope. Has anyone tried having a MWS experiment VK's for efficencey? It seems the compromise would be low HAM VK's with a damamge slice (so the damage would be good, but not great) allowing you to spam your specials more.

I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this, and what the results were. Not being a TKM, I don't know what all kind of HAM costs those high level moves take

I carry a set of VK's on me, only ever use them against armoured targets that also have either very high hams and high kinetic resists.

Usually I will see how well I go without them, if not doing to well then put the VK's on.

It's all personal preferance.

I tried powerups on VK's to reduce ham cost, but at 100 uses and you hitting at once per second at TKM. The powerup does not last long at all.

If I need to use VKs I usually prepare before, doctor buffs, food for mind stats, and powerboost, carry muon gold just in case mind gets hammered fast.

I don't use armour at all either, found the composite I have increses ham costs and regens so much it is not worth using, get by with doctor buff and mind food buff for armour now (and it don't decay either)

22/36/22 is still pretty high but a lot better than 36/53/36. With a 30% speed slice, you could get a 2.1s VK. I wonder if you would actually do more damage with a 101 dmg VK compared to barefisted. (not talking about AP differeces)

Ham cost arguement = flawed. Food is fixed now damnit, use food. Breath of Heaven + Ryschate. My focus, quickness and strength is up to 2200. (From base 400 quick, str, 600 focus) I use a full suit of adv Ubese with that as well.

I've bought a couple of high-efficiency VKs. They're nice, but the HAM costs are still prohibitively high. I usually use my high damage VK. There's a very narrow range of opponents where the high efficiency VKs are helpful. The damage is still quite a bit better than fists and of course you get AP1, but you have to weigh your killing speed reduction.

A crate of food is expensive, often 1-2k/item or more, but keep in mind that each item in the crate will have several uses on it just like if you were buying a crate of stims.
