I'm definately heading to TKMaster....no dabbler here, andI just picked up enough xp for my next box. I'm currently 0 0 4 3 and wondering which box to get next. I'm thinking get the first box in the balance tree...so I can have the knockdown....then level the entire meditative tree before completing the balance tree. Is this a good idea? or should I go ahead and level the entire balance tree or meditative trees first....then pick up the other one?

I dunno....as fast as the xp is rolling in, perhaps it doesn't matter...but any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Get KD, definitely. It's one of the most important moves for a TK. Of course, if you did Master Brawler you'd already have a KD (a much better one really).

You should finish precision striking though. That last box gives you 7 skill mods and a move that lets you target mind. It's definitely worth it.

It's a tough call between meditation and balance... Maybe get balance 1, then med up to master, then finish up balance. Balance just gives a bunch of defenses until you master it, at which case you get KD2 (which does KD and dizzy in one move).

Oh I'm definately going to finish up PS....it's just I don't have enough combat xp yet. But I'll get that before I get master TK.

That's really good to know about KD2....I didn't realize that it did KD and dizzy in one move! WOOT! That's tight.

Do you guys use the Power Boost and FOW skills much? Or would it be better to have the defenses.....hmmm....tough choices....but thanks for the suggestion.

I use power boost constantly. You have to understand, this is a FREE buff that adds up to 600 points to every pool and costs you nothing. The only downside is that you have to maintain it every 7 minutes or so by meditating again, but all you have to do is meditate and then hit /powerboost.

It does take a minute to take full effect after you use it (and your mind pool is temporarily low) but that's nothing.

Force of Will is something that doesn't always work, and sometimes when it does it's not that great because your HAM is really low. But it can save your life. This is a true story of what happened to me last night...

I was doing an imperial mission, fighting some rebels. There were three of them a medic, a spec ops guy, and a general. I killed the medic fast, and then the spec ops guy took a bit, then the general was left. I was hurt pretty bad but I took him on. I got in a dizzy but couldn't knock him down and he kept hitting me. Finally I knocked him down, right when he incapped me.

So I was incapped but he couldn't DB me because he couldn't get back up. So I used Force of Will, got up, and killed him as he lay helpless.

thanks for all the advice and info.....man I LOVE this class. It's just too much fun to play.

I decided to pick up the knockdown first, then level meditation. Primarily cuz I hate disease, even when buffed, and want to be able to cure that quickly.

Thanks for the info on power boost...that is good to know and that was a great story Atama! Jeez, there have been plenty of times I wish I had that one. But is it true, it can only be used once per hour? Or is that power boost? Ah well, it's late and I'm sleepy, I'll search tomorrow.

The only restriction on Power Boost is that it can only be done when you're not currently under its effects. So in other words, you have to wait for it to wear off before you use it again. As you can imagine that's not a problem.

Force of Will is an hourly use ability, yes. However, if you fail when trying to use it, that doesn't count against you. You only have to wait an hour if you successfully use it.

Here's one way to look at Force of Will. You know that Hero of Tatooine quest that some people are trying to hard to complete? You know what the reward is? A ring that lets you get up from incap, though it only has (I believe) 25 uses. As a TKM you have that ability naturally.

Actually, the hero ring is a free rez, not FOW.

You're right, it does say that it works when you die, not incapped.

Mark of the Hero

However, note it has 50 charges and can only be used once a day. FoW can prevent death (nearly as good as a rez) and can be used once an hour and never runs out.

I have to say though.... The only time I use FOW is in PVP, before they have a chance to DB me. When I'm hunting elders, well, the NEW(old?) elders who actually have a chance at killing me... I'm usually dead before I even hit the ground when I get incapped.
