Well written post exlaining our new and confusing skill. Thank you.
Center of being adds your "Center of Being Efficiacy" skill mod as a direct percentage to your Melee Defense, Ranged defense, and appropriate damage avoidance skill (For TKA its defensive acuity). Right now, defensive acuity is non-functioning so CoB doesn't do as much for us TKA as it does for other melee. If you read the other melee forums, you'll see that they are in love with their new skill. We soon will be too, when defensive acuity is fixxed. Here's an example of how it works:
If I have center of being efficiacy at 50, melee defense 100, ranged defense 100 and defensive acuity 100 (I know, its impossible but its just an example), when activating center of being I would raise all those skills by 50% of their normal value. So melee defense would be 150, ranged defense 150 and defensive acuity 150. The duration is half of your "Center of Being duration" modifyer in seconds.
I'm pretty sure that each form of center of being (Unarmed, 1handed, 2handed and polearm) only affects its corresponding damage avoidance skill (dodge, block, counterattack and defensive acuity), but I'm not sure about that. I also don't know if defensive acuity affects state defenses such as defense vs. knockdown.
When testing this out in duels, make sure not to use specials. Special attacks have a higher "to hit" modifyer than normal attacks so your data will be off. I've dueled a swordsman and a fencer who were using this skill, both at master, and they either counterattacked or dodged 8/10 of my attacks unless I was using specials. My UH2 almost always landed against the swordsman and about 60% of the time on the fencer.
