Thread: What do I need to be killing?

After being a long-time Master Smuggler / Master Pistoleer, I decided to try out the Triple Master route and picked up Novice TK late Saturday- early Sunday morning.

My question now is, what do I need to be killing for XP?

I went from UW4 to Novice TK by killing Torturs on Talus.

Most of the day Sunday, I spent on Dath working Baz missions...which are nice XP (around 65k XP per mission)...but they take forever to do a mission since Baz are 45% resist to kinetic. I also tried Quenkers on Dant, but the fact that they're 55% resist to kinetic, and the massive LAAAAG...I just couldn't take it. Tried Pikets on Dant as well...but, again, the LAG was a factor.

I've worked my way up to 1/1/2/1, but would like to be earning faster XP. So, is there something out there that doesn't have a huge resist to kinetic that still gives good unarmed XP? It doesn't necessarily have to have a high credit payout, I can always make creds later.

Any help is much appreciated.

first off NEVER grind things that intimidate, IE pikets.

2ndly, you should go all the way up power tech first, don't both with meditate or balance conditioning till you have power tech.

as far as what to kill.... if you have good armor and buffs you can try blood stained mereks they are vun to kinetic, or crazed gurreks on endor work well too

Hoenstly in my opinion, I found nothing better than regular quenkers until Power Techniques 3, and then after that Huurton Stalker missions, using UnarmedSpinattack2 on the lair for massed killing.

I stick with quenkers early on, I know less XP per kill, but they die so quickly...it's more XP per buff run, because of how many you can kill during each trip. Quenkers, despite the 55% kinetic (I thought regular quenkers were lower, don't do Savage Quenkers) but if you KD them, and UnarmedHit2 -- that should take care of them, especially with a speed sliced VK.

...however if you're trying to avoid Dantooine, than basically anything on Endor seems to be good for TKA.

Nice of you to stop by

There are many different ideas on what to hunt. Huurtons (Stalkers and Huntresses) and Kamurith Defilers on Dath generally give good xp, Squills (when the spawns are working correctly and it isn't camped), etc. Personally, though, I did Plains Tusk Cats on Naboo and Mamiens/Mawgaxes on Yavin. It is a little slower that way, but you can run those without worrying about a lot of people around (especially Yavin).

I also (on another account) just went to Endor and ran pretty much any mission, which worked out pretty well. The Janta Cave (again, provided spawns are working correctly) is great for experience as well.

Thanks for the advice everybody.

Looks like I'll be headed to Endor to try the hunting there. It'll be a nice change of scenery anyway.

If that doesn't work out, I can always head back to Dath for more Baz Nitches. It may be slow going...but I don't guess I can complain too much about 120k+ XP per hour.

And I'll be picking up Power Tech 3 next. I probably should've checked here first to see what I should've trained first, but I figured the KD in Balance 1 would be a definite plus. Then, I just picked up Med 1 because I could. Ah well...XP is coming easy, so it's only one buff session to pick up more skills.

Thanks again.

I'm losing one great Corr on the Smuggler side of my template. I hope you plan on sticking around here for a while. I'll probably be freqenting the TK forums as I get more comfortable with the prof...mostly lurking though.

I dropped my Scouting skills last night to free up skill points for TK skills. So...no more harvesting for me. Novice Medic is next to go. Master Smuggler / TKM / Master Pistol only leaves me 3 spare SP...which I'm dumping into FS Vehicle Control.

And Dant is virtually unplayable on Starsider. So, until they get this neat new lag feature cleared up, I'm avoiding Dant like the plague. Only reason I go there is because the Mining Outpost is the easiest place to find a solo group with an opening. As soon as I'm grouped, I head straight back to Dath, Endor, or someplace less laggy. Coronet is even less laggy than Dant. So, no quenker killing for me...

The KD does actually help quite a bit. I trained 0-1-1-0 as quickly as I could and then progressed up Power from there.

Aye, I'm going to miss Caylin as the Smuggler Corr. I'll definitely be here until the Combat Upgrade/Revamp/Thingy hits, and provided it goes smoothly then I'll remain for some time longer. I'd love to have your opinions here as well, and welcome to our little corner of the boards

WOW! Last night, in one 3 hour buff session, I played on Dath (for the least amount of lag).

About an hour into it, I picked up Power Tech 3. And all I can say is, "DEAR GOD...look at the XP!!!"

Working lvl 99 Giant Baz missions, I get 3 spawns of 5...each critter giving about 4200 XP each. I just stand in the middle of all of them and spam UA Spin 2. Now, what was taking me 15-20 minutes to complete a missionwith Spin 1, only takes 5-10 minutes (depending on terrain). May not be the greatest cred payout, but you can't beat 70k XP per mission (or can you? anybody know?). Even with their 45% resist to kinetic, I still hit for 800-900 damage and they drop like flies.

I also qualified for Power Tech 4 last night toward the end of my buff session. And it was bed time, so I didn't get to train. But, I can't wait to get back in game and kill some more stuff. It's been a long time since I had this much fun with a profession. And I never had this much fun with Pistoleer. Makes me wonder why I never tried this profession before. At this rate, even just playing for one buff session per night, I'll be Master by the weekend.

This is GREAT!!

It is rather different isn't it? It took me some time to finally really play TK, and I was amazed that I never gave it a chance prior to that point (even in BETA I just kind of shrugged it off, mainly because I didn't think I could have fun playing unarmed).

It is technically possible to gain more xp per hour, but at the rate you can gain it unarmed is it really necessary? That was part of the reason I just went to Endor and Yavin. Even casual play (at the time) I made Master in a few days, which shocked me (just didn't seem like I should have been able to master a profession so quickly, and I still hold onto the belief that one shouldn't, but that is another debate).

Anyway (before I ramble) glad you are enjoying it, and maybe this means you'll be on the forums here more?

Yeah, all of you are about the same. I tried pulling Caylin over here too a couple of times, but thus far he hasn't turned
