Thread: This is how they made combat better?
I am having several issues with the new combat system. First off, our new TKM attack, advanced combo, does about half the damage that melee hit (the most basic brawler attack) does. Am i doing something wrong? I am fighting with bare hands but it shouldnt matter either way. The attack I get at TK master should do more damage right?
my second issue is that the knockdown works only about 20% of the time. Is that also the way it's supposed to be now?
Third, is dizzy. Well I dont really have a % for that yet as i have yet to land one in hundreds of tries. But I'll be sure to get back to you when I do land one.
I see alot of people talking about going swordsman to do more dmg but my issues are with the attacks we already have. It just seems that a master brawler will outdamage a TKM by leaps and bounds.
Is this because of the "improved" combat system?
These can't possibly be bugs, can they? I mean, this game is two years old. It can't possibly have bugs with such basic systems in the game like combat.
so what gives?
I'm pretty much falling asleep at the computer right now or else I'd take more time to address your various questions but on the combo attack let me copy and paste some info I gave in another thread farther down the page regarding that the damage itself on the combo attack series isn't low, it's just the reporting of the damage that's low, the combo attack series actually does good damage. You're not doing anything wrong either, however if you would want to /bug the damage display for the combo attack series it couldn't hurt.
"No attack was set to auto attack and I used combo attack as my lead off attack while holding the mouse over the health bar and looking at the number as I hit the number for combo attack on the keyboard and quickly wrote the current health number down, I then subtracted the current health from max and it was 477, same as the verbose combat message implies...
"Ronaj attacks a humbaba with Combo Attack using JB's Vibro Knuckler and hits for 158 points (158 points of energy damage). A humbaba's armor absorbed 3 points out of 480 possible points of damage."
Just subtract the absorbed amount from the possible amount and you'lllearn how much damage you're actually doing."
Eh on second thought I'll go ahead and address your other questions as well as best I can.
On the knockdown part I'm not sure about the % of it as I always used Lunge but with today's stealth nerf to Lunge, which can be discussed in a sticky over on the Brawler forum, I guess I'll be getting more familiar with our own knockdown line and see how well it works for me.
As far as dizzy goes I can land one every battle pretty much, might take a couple tries but I can, sounds like you're just having really bad luck on it right now (and yes I've landed one about every battle since publish 18 this morning so no stealth nerf there).
Personally I don't think there's anyway that a MBrawler could outdamage a TKM. However a lot of people go MSwords as well for the improved/advanced armor break, criticals, head hits, etc which usually seem to have better damage than the TKM specials. One nice thing about that is that you can still use those Swords specials while using TKM fighting and vice versa, combo attack with a sword etc.
Hope that helps some, like I said I'm falling asleep at the computer so I apologize for any inaccuracies or forgotten information but at least some of the other friendly folk here will be sure to add things I've forgotten or answer more questions you have.
