Thread: PVP and Chasing Down That Tricky Ranged Template....

This is such a big problem for me, whenever I duel a ranged profession, they always run away from me, and I have to spend the entire duel chasing after them. I do get a chance to hit them every 5 minutes or so... Not to mention they can slow my movement. Anyways I was just wondering what you guys do to counter this, if anything? I was also wondering about armor penalties on movement, it seems like people who wear armor move at the same speed as those who don't, but i could be wrong im not sure. Any suggestions?

Stop following them around, pulll out a rifle/carbine/pistol and start shooting back.


Keep CoB up all the time (so be prepared to drop gun for a short time if you have a macro running keeping cob). And spam some heals....

Yeah but the only problem is I chose not to mixed ranged and melee. Im Master Swords, Master TK, and 4000 Doc...yeah...

doesn't matter, u can use any non-profession bound ranged weapon.
get yourself an advanced laser rifle or a FWG5 pistol or spare the money and get yourself a DC-15 rifle (from bobba fett's clone relic quest) or nyms slugthrower.

I am TKM, Master Pikes, 4000 Doc and I carry a Adv Heavy Laser Rifle and can use it without any problems. Just confirming what c-mot posted.

'Lunge', if you haven't knocked 'em down already. It has something like a 15-20m range, as opposed to the 5m range of everything else we have.

as mentioned previously, invest in some parwan (it's food) - it gives you burst run, you can easily eat 2 of these and still use a regular burst run afterwards.

the tkm/pikes/doc4000 or swords in place of pikes is perfect against ranged root freaks! its good against some melee but shines at its best IMO against the rooters. just heal and patiently wait, thats what i do, burst run up to him and knock himdown!


his root has a long cooldown timer so just worry about getting near him and smacking him like a red headed step child!

Save your KD attack until you get rooted, then hit him with it. He may be able to get up and run away, but atleast you'll be able to get a few extra hits in--maybe enough to incap him. When you get snared, pop some burst run food. My question is what kind of specials are you using when you switch over to a rifle if you have no marksman?

I'm almost at master combat medic, and electrolight drain is a life saver for me. Basicly what it does is snare your opponent for 1 and half minutes (much longer than the normal snare). This makes it much easier to chase down those dirty kiters. You can also use thyroid rupture from combat medic to slow the attack speed of your opponent by 40. tkm/combat medic is a very good combination IMO.
