I am a loooong time gamer and have never actually touched an MMORPG. I am used to your normal RPGs and such and I do not know how to fight human players, especially with such a disadvantage as TK. I must be doing something wrong cause I got beat by a Novice Marksman yesterday and had to listen to his adolescent bullsh+t...its quite discouraging.I have half of TK put away, and am currently working on the Expert Tier.

What should I do against marksman?

first of all the title could be fake as i can make myself novice anything that I have had like novice brawler, novice scout etc. So he may actually have been a pistoleer, carbineer etc.

If he kites you meaning runs away from you there is little you can do short of run the opposite way and heal or pull out a gun or creature on him. You as a non CH can own a relatively large pet that can chase him down or take some of the hits while you close and punch his lights out...or incap yourself with specials.

If you are close then it depends on what specials you have..stun, blind, dizzy, knockdown, lunge(posture down) all modify his attacks negatively as well as some others further into tka.

I mainly PvP as a rifleman (I don't haveall theTKA skill trees), but most of these tips are fairly class redundant.

Make sure you have novice medic, then buy some over 250 base heal stim Bs. While I'm sure there is someone here who does well at PvP without medic, most people find it very helpful.

If you know a doctor ask them to buff your stats before you go into PvP.

Set your mindto at least800, having a 1000 is recommended, then get a sliced composite helmet and wear that when you are not regenerating mind.

Once you have that don't chase ranged players. Any ranged user that knows anything about PvP knows not to stand still when you see a TKA coming at you (TKA damage is scarey ), go and hide in buildings, around corners. You want the ranged guy to have to come close to you.

If people are giving you grief through /tells put them on ignore. Trust me on this, no matter how well you play, how "fair" you play or how often you win/lose, you will ALWAYS get players that give you grief in PvP. It just isn't worth the time it takes to read their tells. There are people out there who give a "good fight" etc but they are rarer than the ones that will send stupid tells every time they die / kill.

As far as my skills (and once again, this is my first MMORPG and maybe I'm not employing them right):

Adv Power, Adv Balance, Adv Prec. Striking, Adv Meditate

First Aid 4, Pharm 3

Pistol 4, Carbine 4, Ranged Support 3

Novice CH (Just the initial box, haven't progressed further)

This was only my second duel, but I feel pretty much useless as far as PvP goes...guess that's why I'm still neutral.

pvp'ing as a pure tka is just well....lets just say not if you're out to win.

you want to stay close while in combat, and the pistol is the best weapon up close. ok those kit-ers right? ranged support 4's suppression fire is perfect for this. it makes the kit'er kneel (you do more dmg here anyways) and you can catch up. if you have more points to spend, get low blow in the smuggler tree, a ranged knockdown, yeah they fall you run up and pummel them.

oh yeah, and use headhit1,no worse feelingthan getting a buffed char down to nothing, having him stand up, heal all that damage and proceed to kite.
