Thread: TKA Master to Unarmed seeking TKA, and Novice TKA's
I don't see many posts regarding helpful information regarding the path of unarmed/TKA, so I am somewhat bored and would like to pose my insights and suggestions for those seeking the balance of an unarmed combat artist.
Novice Brawler- Unarmed Path
I know that this path has become more difficult with Knux now being available only to Novice TKA, but I feel that I can give novices some insight on this, because I didn't start using Vibro Knucklers till I reached Novice TKA anyway. I started early in the game and most weaponsmiths couldn't even make them at the time (If that gives you any ideas).
Groups are essential at this layer. Very essential. The problem is, as most novices may agree, is that most in the group deal so much damage, it's hard to get that extra kick of exp that you need. My suggestion? Stay in groups of 3-4, not to big. Avoid groups of 20. Large groups are overrated and are generally good only for harvesting and so forth. Small groups yield Higher exp for each player. Average level players (below Expert or Master in each class) works out better, because there is a better balance in damage distribution, i.e. yields better distribution of exp.
Eeopis on Tatooine are relatively easy and good exp. If you really want to accelerate Your skills, however, grab a couple people and go to Dathomir to hunt some Baz Nitches. BAZ's you say! They are hard! Well, in groups of say, 4 guessing at least one master, a medic, and 2 novices, you can follow the following strategy and be able to pull at least 1500-1800 minimum or more exp per kill:
Sorry, accidentally press submit there.
Cont'd;Obtain an Doctor Enhancement resource---in other words, find a doctor/doctors you can consistently get enhancements from. A fullyBuffed HAM can go a long way to keeping you alive--and fighting hence more exp. Problem is, many mobs these days attack the mind, which is a cheap SOE trick because they attack it most more directly, and it also usually has the least amount of protection-----same story for PvE or whatever. Anyway, Find a good set of Padded Helmet, sliced low encumberance. They are plentiful these days and you should be able to find a good deal. Need some extra cash? Can you say Plots? you ahve 10, chances are you are not using them, unless you own a house. Lease your plots out to an architect who can pay you big bucks to use them...or better yet, get a couple quick artisan skills, make your own small harvesters, and ask around to some of the armorsmiths and architects to see what they are buying. Slap your small harvester down and start making money---easy money. If you have a minimum of 5 small harvesters in a good spot, you can get plenty of money every day for doing little maintenence. The point of this random rant is so you have funds to buy equipment, nuff said. Back from tangent---after you receive enhancements, Get a resource for Muon Gold---a spice sold by Smugglers. Yes, this is a drug, but aside from spending too much time in a cantina, this is the only MIND buff you are going to get.
The GOLD is a tremendous resource for keeping you alive, but be very aware of the time..after10 minutes..(I think, can't remember exactly) you come down off the spice and cuts your MIND in half for a couple minutes. You can easlity go through a couple lairs before it runs down, though. Also, forget about the berserk option. It is widely overused, but is more ineffective than unarmed hits. With your enhancements, spam the Unarmed Hit 1 over and over. It will be as FAST as berserk, and will do more damage. More damage equal more exp in groups.
**Make sure you have Novice Medic with Med use +5 and get a Master Doctor to make you STIM B's at+350 or better heals. You can get these for around 1k or 1.5k....You know how to get the money--you can run long, hard missions or do the harvester thing---personally, the harvester thing gives you more time to concentrate on leveling up while maintaining a consistant, reliable income flow...plus, the further up the go, the better business relationships will be established through your early contacts.

Many
Many people...dang submit key..anyway, Many people have rifle/marksman skills at the beginning just as a rule of thumb. That's all great, but many times you are so interested in leveling up, you will use your earned "Combat Experience" points to by skills under Marksman. Take my advice---Don't. The precision striking line in TKA takes the longest to obtain, and has some of the best stat increases you will need. My advice? save up ALL those points. By the time you finally make TKA novice, you will automatically be eligible to train for your FIRST TKA skill, INTERMEDIATE PRECISION STRIKING. At this point, you will be more than a novice TKA, you will have the first bar in your tree, and you will instantly have MELEE AND RANGED defense +5 each, Unarmed Accuracy +20, and Unarmed Body Hit1. Not bad just for holding back on spending those hard earned Combat Exp points under Marksman. Trust me--I did this, and had a HUGE edge once I reached TKA novice, and it makes a big difference in your to hit damage. Just some foresight, but you'll need it.
Once you reach TKA novice, you should have enough money in the bank to buy a decent pair of Vibro Knucklers. Ask around to any Bounty Hunter you see---there are many missions that BH's do that drop Vibro Motor components---so do a search for BH's and ask them if they have the component from a loot drop. Make a reasonable price offer, then find a Master Weaponsmith. Have them use the component, preferrably a damage upgrade Vibro Motor Unit +20, to make you a good pair of Knux. Next, have a Master Smuggler slice it...MASTER only.
When you combat, stay initially in the 3-4 group limit. Remove all armor except for your padded helmet. By now, you should have other skills, based on your style and preference, but I recommend moving up in med skills. You can always drop them later, but as unarmed you take more damage than anyone---trust me. The advantage of having med skills with good stim packs is invaluable. Enhancements and Muon Gold will also keep you alive.
**Stay sharp---obviously, don't run around with half a black bar. Everytime you have to reclone, heal yourself and your mind...and rebuff or find buffs. Remember, if you die you don't get the exp anyway, so best to stay healthy.
**There is obviously more to all this, but I feel this strategy can be effective on your move up. Feel free to email me question or message me in game for more suggestions. Like everyone, I'm sure I'm full of my own opinions, but who knows---you might find something useful.
