when you are coming off power boost, it drains your HAM that is not damaged so if you are damaged when it wears off....you are incapacitated from it counting down....just great.

Not 100% but may be same problem I saw today while seeing if powerboost worked for me.

A doc had buffed my primary stats, a bit later I tried powerboost, while powerboost was active the buffs had expired, actual health dropped to its default setting then worked its way back up to where it was with powerboost.

I noticed that power boost seems to gradually fade down.

Not sure if that was a bug or relevent to same problem. But maybe all enhancers have a problem at the moment.

Also I can see why you would be incapped, for instance standard hams areis 800, with powerboost this is now 1200. You are fighting and have about 300 ham when powerboost expires. This would make your real ham -100, so you would be incap. Maybe it is a bug or maybe it is supposed to work that way.

Yes, while not expressed exactly right, you are correct Sano. Here is what I have discovered.

/powerboost -- My mind drops to half, all my stats start rising.

1 min later -- My mind is back to normal and my health and action are at their peak values for that boost.

1 second later -- I lose about 400 mind points. don't ask me why...

0.25 seconds later -- My max mind goes up to 1.5 times its normal size.

10 minutes later -- My HAM starts to power down, as it does this the first thing it does is subtract a certain amount from the pool (6-20) and then reduce the max value of that pool, and then add back a little to the pool (not regen, it happens too fast and frequently).

So, the problem with this is:

Since the pool always gets its current hp reduced prior to its max value going up or down, if that pool that is going up or down is already low, you get incapped.

example:

I powerboost and 8 minutes later begin combat.

My health is drained to lets say a value of 40 during combat. When combat is over the powerdown of the powerboost begins. The game removes19 of my health leaving me at 21 left, then it gives like 5 back leaving me at 26. Then immediately it removes another 19 leaving me at 7 and adds 5 back leaving me at 12, then it removes 15 and I am incapped.

Mind you, I am not even fighting while this is happening, nothing is hitting me, I am just standing there and I get incapped. Now, if you throw spice into the mix, the issues with the spice downer can not only cause an unexpected incap, but it can also cause DEATH! This happened to me once and I am still not even sure why.

I was mixing Muon Gold with /powerboost and at some point between the muon gold consume and muon gold downer, and also between the powerboost up and the powerboost down, I died without any cause. I was sitting and stood up, and died instantly and had to clone. /powerboost was fully up, and so was muon gold.

Suggested Fixes:

* Stats should not be reduced during powerdown unless the current value of that stat is higher than its max value.

* Neverreduce a stat below 1 as a result of /powerboost going down.

Another funny/unexpected thing to try is activate /powerboost when your mind is below half. Instant incap! Wheeee! I didn't notice at the time that my mind was just a few points below half and I hit the /powerboost and before I knew it, I was flat on the ground.

The whole part about draining your HAM as it powers down makes powerboost kind of useless. It means that you have to keep your ham at least high enough in the fight so that you won't incap when it wears out (ie if you boosted for 500 pts, you better be sure you have at least 501pts in your ham bars so you won't keel over when it wears out). Well, if I could do that in the fights where I was using powerboost, I wouldn't need it in the first place. And in a fight when you're getting hit, having it wear out AND draining your remaining health is very detrimental to your prospects of winning a fight

Oh yeah, forgot to add:

Suggested Fix:

* Don't allow /powerboost if there is not enough mind to activate it.

Blah, sorry about a third post (blame the lack of an edit button), but I just noticed on the doc forums that doc buffs were incap'ing people when they wore off as well. So it isn't just a problem with the powerboost buff but more likely buffs in general. Some thing stupid must have been introduced this patch (big surprise) that changed the way buffs work. I know that doc buffs didn't behave that way before the patch.

I'm a Trando with 1k mind (living large). I use muon gold to get it to 1.5k. I immediately use powerboost and mind gets to the lofty levels of 2.2-2.3k. 10 minutes later I'll get incapped as the powerboost wanes and I get a downer. But once the poewrboost ends I'm "insta-healed" in mind. So far I've verified that spice and buffs get stacked into the powerboost. I assume food is as well. That makes for some seriously sick HAM bars. Throw in good armor and a tat sunburn and we're probably more deadly than an ATST for a few minutes, at least in melee range.

The funny part is that I actually used this (just spice and powerboost) to do the last mission in COA act 2. About 10 seconds after I succeeded and got the badge, I got the downer and a few moments later I incapped myself. Twice. Unfortunately, there was no one else in the vicinty so I had to walk the whole way back.

bit buggy, ain't it?

don't even bother using force of will with power boost downing. instance death (after 3 incaps that is)

also was fight a stormtrooper (usu not a problem) started coming off of boost. had ~100% health ~75% action, ~ 80% mind.

he hit me once, and incap. draining the rest of my action.

powerboost is fine, the incaps are just for laughs.
