Hi, I am curently a riflemen but have plans to become a tk in the near future,I was wondering wut i should kill in the early stages of unarmed and wut kind of dmg u do when u first get tka. I was also wondering if there is anything i should look for or anything that is bugged.

P.S. if you are in a group on say dantooine, and there are a bunch of pets attacking something, if i go start kicking it, will it star attacking me?

Anything you want to attack that you think you can kill and gives a good pay off

1k damage at novice with Unarmed Hit 2 and a good set of VKs

And yes, the animals will attack you from time to time

Warning: My thoughts are likely to break out into words at any moment.

I'm currently in the process of dropping rifleman for TK myself. You have an advantage in that you can be taking on much larger creatures to to get your unarmed skills up then someone who's just starting off.

What Idid was find something that would give me average xp as a rifleman, and hit it with a few mind bleeds. When the first bleed kicks in and the creature charges, I'd switch to unarmed and make sure that I get at least one solid unarmed hit on it. Then I'd use traps and kiting to keep it away from me until it bled out.

If you didn't take any of the trap line from scout, then you'll need to get some armor with good kinetic resists and just take your punishment until the beast dies. You need to make sure that you get at least one unarmed hit in so you get the xp, and make sure that you don't hit it with any rifle shots that aren't bleeds, so the xp all goes to unarmed. There seems to be a point of diminishing returns using this strategy though, maybe around unarmed 3-4, because eventually you'll start to get the point where it's taking too much time bleeding red con critters and tanking them for unarmed xp when you could just be wading into a pack of white cons and killing em all quickly. At this point, get the fastest set of VK's you can find, because the increased attack speed is worth it.

From what I've been seeing on the boards, if you're attacking a creature that your pets are attacking, the creature will focus on you if you're doing the most damage. So if you want to avoid getting his attention, try to avoid specal attacks.

uh.....uh.......we've been tkas far too long to know the damage output of unarmed, nor do we know how to grind up unarmed now, other than killing things. When we did grind up tka, it was back when we could still use vibros. ]

oh and yes, they will attack you

creatures always attack the closest thing doing damage, so if you run in with a few pets, make sure you are always 1m behind the pets hitbox. Then you can pound away at any creature and the pets will take all the damage!

If you know for a fact you wont be getting hit, use berserk. It does't do too much, but when you are just starting out, you will do more damage faster with it on! That means more XP!!!

Reptiles partly right, proximity adds to your aggro though. Being farther away doesnt make it impossible for you to get aggro, just makes it more difficult.

Don't forget VK's have armor piercing, and unless your a wild eyed Dosh lost in the wild who hasn't cut his nails in awhile, your fists don't.

You can still use vibros, and you should. I started TK a few weeks back. You don't get the damamge bonus, but the speed increase is incredibly helpful.
